Rush is FINALLY Here!
 

OK Ladies, I know how much everyone loves those rush threads, so I thought I would give you all the play by play of rush at Gamma.


Yesterday we had a VERY informal BBQ and openhouse for potential rushes. We had 4 girls come, not a GREAT number but we know all four of these girls will be expecting bids, so I hope to see them throughout rush :)

Tuesday is our first night of rush. We are having formal rush that evening. We give the girls packets of info anf financial sheets as well as thell them more about SA.

Wed is informal here at the house. We plan on cooking out again and talking about the past year and how 9/11 has effected our lives. Just a tiome of reflection and we have a few patriotic things planned as well.

Thursday is another presentation on campus.

Tuesday and Wed of the next week is pref at the house, complete with tours and interviews, The girls will recieve their bids by Friday and the following Thursday is pinning. And by then I will have an official count for our new MC class! :)

I hope your rush is going as well as ours is.. Our rush chair has had some great plans and even better flyers and other ways of getting the SA name out on campus. We changed our rush theme last minute to match a little symbol printed on all the vegitable crates here in MI. "Something Different" is our new theme and so far it is different and going GREAT!

OK So tonight was our first info session :) We had 11 girls show up! Hopefully we will see them back tomorrow for the open house event tomorrow. We have also gotten e-mail about girls planning to come Thursday.

I love reading your posts! I was a member of the Alpha MC class at Gamma and president of MSU Alumni for a few years. I live in Southern Illinois now and am unable to get to Alumni events as I would like to. Thank you for the great posts and keep that enthusiasm! If the other actives at Gamma are even half as excited about our wonderful sisterhood as you are, then rush will be great. Have fun!

Tonight we had a low ket open house and a handful of girls from last night came back as well as one new girl. She is very excited to join EA! :)

Tomorrow night we have at least 4 girls that called to confirm the location and time and arrange for rides! :)

So far rush is going great, the Alpha Delta MC class is going to be AWESOME! :)

Update time: :)

Tonight we had 5 more rushed show up. The best part was I got to go deliver invites to pref from the previous two nights. My favorite was a girl who started screaming and gave me and a fellow sister hugs. Keep in mind that it was only an invite back to pref... not even a bid. Needless to say I called shotgun on delivering her bid! :)

Hopefully next Tuesday and Wednesday nights goes well! Wednesday evening we will be delivering bids.

I also get to make door signs for the girls when we deliver their bids! I'm so pumped about rush now! :)

BTW Did you all notice I'm a little :) happy? LOL

Chi Chapter Rush.... well we have actually put it off by a week...pushed it back...normally we would have it the second week in September, but we had decided that having something the 11th (which would have occured) might not have been the best idea... and we also put ours over a two week period and have 7 events so that everyone has ample time to come to things.

so we are starting ours Monday the 16th with an informational meeting....where those interested can come and see what we are about (to the public basically)... wednesday the 18th, we are having like a games night (that should be fun), more games and cookout with the AGR brothers at our farm pavilion on thursday, then the following monday we go bowling at our student union, thats always a blast :), movie night in our pjs at our advisors house actually (she loves having us over, she really does:) ), then two dinners...

For some reason everything we do is related some how to food... its odd and we've just recented noticed this...lol.. but its fun and food brings people together for some reason..

We did a student organizations fair the friday before classes started back on like the 19th of August or some date like that.. and we got 16 sign ups out of which 3 are like..heck ya I am going to do Sigma Alpha :):) makes us happy... It would be cool to double membership again (we did it last fall semester with a class of 13)...

I think it will be promising rush this year...even if we only get 5 who actually go all the way through.. it still seems to make us happy :):)

Chi and Gamma must be related then ;) We actually have mints at every event. They are the bright colored chocolate covered dinner mints. We have re-named them the Sigma ALpha mints LOL We also have food at EVERY event! What can we say college kids love FREE FOOD! LOL

OK ladies

We have had at least a dozen girls RSVP back for preference :) So far we are happy with the numbers we have been getting and hearing from! I will keep you updated.

Tomorrow and Wed we have preference here at the house, Wednesday night bids will be delivered, and Thursday will be pinning, so then I can give you an Official count for our fall 2002 MC class! :)

I love hearing about your rush activivties. Since a lot of chapters do things differently, I was wondering what 'preference' meant? I've never heard that term before. Thanks!!

All of the girls who come to information sessions or open houses are invited back to preference. At Gamma chapter we break into four groups, leadership, scholarship, fellowsip, and service. The rushes then rotate one by one to each station and the actives ask them about the one characteristic. Kind of like an interview. It's a time for them to learn more about our characteristics and how important they each are. It also lets us learn more about them. :)

One a side note we had at least two more girls call today and ask if they could still rush! So we invited them to preference :) Yeah for the GREAT rush numbers! :)

The latest update..... last night we delivered 18 bids! :) Yes 18 :) Tonight will be pinning and I will have an OFFICIAL count for the new MC class :)
