Quick question
 

Some friends and I are interested in starting a sorority. Would anyone be able to tell me how to go about doing this?

Interesting question and there is a lot of useful information on this site for you. But I have some questions first because it will help to know what you are looking for; are you interested in starting a brand new local sorority at your school or do you want to bring a National sorority onto your campus? GC has information on both of these situations. Of course, I recommend the National route, but that's because it's been such an amazing experience for myself, my sisters and my good friends. However, GC has wonderful local sorority members who post regularly and who have wonderful chapters as well!

One thing also is if there is already other sororities on campus talk to your head of greek life. They can give you lots of information. Cause things like i know on my campus that our greek life will currently not recognize any new social sororities. Which would hurt the chances of starting one on campus.

We were wanting to start a new local sorority. Thanks so much for your replies, and we will be talking to the head of Greek Life tomorrow. :)

Also, there is the "Locals" board on GC that I'm sure will provide you with tons of information.
I would also recommend you check out:

which lists local sororities all over the country, I'm sure you'd be able to contact other women who have embarked on the same path though this fabulous site.

Thanks! The Local Sororites site helped us a ton!

Go to the Rush forum and read Wishinhopin's thread called "Rush at UCSC." It will take you like 2 hours to read it, but it will tell you everything you need to know! It's worth the time it takes to read the whole thing. Best of luck!
