Online Petition Against Pepsi
I'm sure you all have heard about Ludacris being fired as a Pepsi spokesperson. Well, there are a lot of people upset by Pepsi's abrupt firing after being influenced by Bill O'Reilly moreso than Ludacris being fired. I see it as a possible precedent of no respect for "urban" dollars because they never consulted us after O'Reilly's rantings.
Here is a small article from the EUR (Electronic Urban Report) and a link to the petition. FYI, most radio stations get their urban news from this newsletter. http://www.eurweb.com BTW, I've already signed. :) PEPSI'S FIRING OF LUDACRIS PROMPTS PETITION E-blacksingles.net CEO is out to make a point to soft drink maker. *This online petition thing is starting to catch on. First the "anti-Ashanti" petition, now e-blacksingles.net's CEO, S. Nicole Williams has started a petition called "For A Public Apology from Pepsi." The petition is in response to rapper Ludacris being dumped by soda company (08-29-02 EUR) because of pressure from conservative broadcaster Bill O'Reilly. Williams states the goal is to collect 1.5 million names and comments that will undoubtedly show Pepsi, who has the buying power and who they should really listen to. "So what, if Bill O'Reilly never drinks Pepsi, point is, who is he to talk on behalf of African Americans and who gives him the right to 'define' who America is. Fox find you another 'Devil in a Blue Dress' or shall we say neck tie?" To learn more about the petition and read Williams' open letter to Pepsi, go here: http://www.eblacksingles.net/pet/pet-signup.php#pet No matter what your position is on the Pepsi/Ludacris controversy, Williams reminds us that "A closed mouth, will never be heard!" Bill O'Reilly couldn't have said it better. (Disclaimer: e-blacksingles.net provides the technical back end for EUR/EURweb's LoveHookups.) |
