Class and Meeting Pet Peeves

ghi2K2, only discussed one pet peeves and one specific type of annoying student.

Here, are ALL of the annoying things that both students AND profs do. Not just the annoying stuff in class but in our chapter and other organization meetings

*Profs who don't speak loud enough, and then get upset when students ask them to repeat themselves.
*Profs who talk too fast or slow.
*Profs w/ bad english.
*Profs who call on you when you aren't listning.
*Students who fall asleep and snore.
*Students who wear a bottle of cologne/perfume to class.
*Students who rap and sing in class, that is so ghetto.
*Stundents who come to class hungover, puking everywhere.
*Popping gum.
*Students who talk to their neighbors constantly.
*When everyone shows up a meeting 30 min. late and call it "XYZ time".
*When no one shows up at a meeting that you took off of work for.

My number one class pet peeve is when the person sitting behind you is talking incessantly or keeps kicking the back of your seat (this goes for movie theaters as well). I was in class today and I was trying to concentrate on what the prof was saying (it's a math class so I needed full concentration....math is not my strong point). This girl behind me keeps babbling on and on to her friend about her weekend, boyfriend, etc. She would not shut-up. Finally, I turned around and said nicely, "I'm trying to listen. Is there any way you can just whisper?" The pimply-faced beatch gives me a nasty look and says, "If you don't like it than move." One of my sorority sisters was sitting next to me and said rudely, "Nobody cares about your boyfriend and why he hit on your roommate last night at Roxy's. SHUT-UP!!!" That got through to her!
Seat kickers are bad too. I'm tall and I have never had a problem with someone's seat being so close to me that I couldn't cross my legs without hitting the back of someone's chair with such force that it could knock over an elephant.

smells

I never liked anything in class that smelled. Too much perfume, gas, B.O., whatever. There was one guy who used to roll out of bed and come to class. He would still have crease lines on his face from the pillow, wore a crusty baseball hat, and just smelled like bad, stale sleep and you could smell it even a few seats away. Ick.

Oooh, this is more something that happens during tests -- I hate arrogant, obnoxious, talkative, bragging test takers. When I took the bar exam, this guy behind me had to tell the world how EASY everything was after each section, and how he didn't even have to THINK about it, but he ACED everything. Meanwhile, I'm sweating and freaking out about failing. He wouldn't shut up, not for a second when we weren't testing. I grew to hate him with every fiber of my being during that two day period. And wouldn't you know -- on the day of being admitted to the federal bar, he was there! I guess all my curses and wishes for him to fail didn't work after all.

Big class pet peeve:

When someone's cell phone rings and then they proceed to answer it and have a conversation, wtf??

Yeah, the cell phones bother me too! I have one, but I don't take it to class, I don't know why anyone would NEED to unless they were waiting for a emergency call or something.

What really bothers me is when people are inconsiderate when I am taking a test. I prefer to take my time during tests, and look it over because I get nervous about tests, and end up checking things a million times. Usually I am one of the last ones to finish, so there are always those who rushed through it in five minutes and ruffle papers, murmur and talk, tap their fingers, laugh, get into bags, etcs.. tap their rings against the table (so annoying), and this makes me so nervous and panicky, and I feel my blood pressure going up. I then get frustrated and my concentration is shot and I end up freaking out and going blank. This is so annoying, if people would just be QUIET when others are finishing/taking tests!!

Cell phones suck but sometimes calls are important. If I get a call I say "excuse me" and walk outside. My biggest pet peeve about meetings is when parlimentary procedure is ignored. Actully not so much. What really bothers me is when its used incorectly. The basics of it aren't hard and you can use cheat sheets for the complicated ones. I picked it up after about 45 minutes in high school government class.

All you need is someone who is not afraid to use "on order" and "orders of the day" and you'll be set:cool:

I have a professor that stated day 1 that if someone's cell phone or beeper goes of in class he will deduct one letter grade from there FINAL overall average. He has allready got one girl this semester. That why I don't take mine into class.

My meeting/chapter pet peeve is when guys come up with elaborate excuses as to why they cant be at chapter, but then they show up to a social or to hang out afterwards.

People who feel the need to comment on every order of business that is being voted on. They suck!
