FIFA Under 19 Girls Soccer World Championships

I'm not sure if I am the only one, but for the past two hours I've been absolutely glued to the TV watching the first ever girls Under 19 soccer world championship final between the US and Canada. It took two overtime periods, but the US team defeated Canada in sudden death after an AMAZING scoreless regulation time and first OT!!! Canada and the US both played magnificently and gave 110% out there!!!

I just am SOOO proud to see a crowd of 50,000+ fans screaming & cheering for these amazing girls, and for womens' sport in general :)

Just had to share my thoughts. Did anyone else see this??

Rock on, sista!!

Yes - it was just awesome, and what a great display of support for women's sports and soccer!

Cheers,

I watched it too. It was an awesome game, and those girls should be very proud of they way they represented Canada. :)

Curious since the gold medal game was between Canada and the US and the US won ;).

Maybe its because the US is used to winning everything.lol j/k. Probably because soccer is not real big here.

Truthfully, its not that big of a spectator sport here in Canada either, though more people play soccer than hockey or basketball!!

Amazingly enough, the ratings were announced today, and rivalled and even beat most of the best World Cup ratings!! The stadium of just under 60,000 was sold out, and the crowd on hand (just under 49,000) was the largest ever for a soccer game in Canada at ANY level :)

Remember that we don't have huge 80-100,000 seat stadiums here anywhere either. Just thought that I would share.
