Hello!

So i have a super important question. Spring 2017 semester I pledged a sorority, unfortunately it did not work out and I was never initiated. I am now transfering to a new university, and was hoping to rush, but im not sure if I am allowed to. The sorority I pledged is not at the new university. Does anyone know if i am able to rush a different sorority? Any tips would be very helpful!! :confused:

If you were not previously initiated into a NPC sorority, you may go through recruitment.

Thank you! So does that mean if i rerush at my new university, even if it is a nearby school, they wont see that i was a pledge but not initiated? and out of curiosity, would it be different if i was suspended before initiation? like would I not be able to rush somewhere else then?

No. They Shouldn't be able to know that you were pledged or suspended-from your Sorority?

So, you pledged a sorority that does not have a chapter at your new college, but were suspended before initiation, and ultimately did not get initiated?
You can pledge any group you like at the new college.
Will they know? Not through any official channels, but people talk, so don't be surprised to you're asked about your previous pledge.
I wouldn't bring it up if they don't ask, but if they do ask, don't lie about it. You don't have to tell them you were suspended. Just say that it didn't work out and that you left before being initiated.

Hi sorry for the late reply, sorority.

You can rerush and join a diff NPC sorority. That happened with one of my chapter sisters. She pledged XYZ at a university across the state, but transferred after that quarter (this was right before they made the pledge period 8 weeks or whatever and you had to come back the next quarter to initiate). She introduced herself to the chapter of XYZ on our campus and they were rude to her and weren't very welcoming. However, she happened to meet some of our sisters in a class and invited her out and she found her home.

If you were suspended for drunken nude dancing at the neighboring fraternity house during their chapter meeting, or suspended for threatening your pledge sisters with the business end of a cobra, you can probably expect that your story will follow you. People always know people.

If you were suspended because you didn't pay dues, or didn't attend functions, or had a negative attitude, then you should probably ask yourself, "what will change in my new setting?"

In other words, if you were suspended, you were suspended for a reason--fair or unfair--that you should reflect on before embarking on another Greek venture if you want a successful outcome.
