Need some help. Where do I begin?

OK, the situation here is really bothering me. How do I go about getting involved with the our Alum assoc.? Do I send money somewhere, what should I join? I know it sounds crazy, but it is such a "closed door" situation that I'm REALLY getting ticked off! It is controlled by 3 women representing 3 sororities and a couple of lackeys! As a side note, those 3 sororities are our greatest LEGACY recruits to LSU. Last year I said, "If I need to join in order to help, I'd be glad to." The response was a VERY SWEET, "Oh, that won't be necessary. We'll let you know who needs a rec." It was the classic, "Let's do lunch" response. I called the current President this summer (AFTER a previous conversation) and left a message on her machine.
I mentioned recruitment was getting so close and I wanted to help our area girls by making sure they had a formal AXO form and/or letter of introduction. I had NO RESPONSE! AXO is not the ONLY one with this problem. DG got their's resolved this year but others have no representation. Is there a protocol I should follow? I'm beyond worrying about stepping on any toes.
With the possibility of AXO colonizing at LSU, a strong chapter at Tech and all the young ladies that go out of state, I find it LUDICROUS that these girls have to seek ME out. I'm the AXO secret alum... Any advice would help. EDITED TO ADD- I'm JUST about to the point where I will start naming NAMES!!! (Well, probably not...)

JWOW, is there a chapter near you?

If so contact them direct and offer your services. It is usually more fun working wiht the Younger Actives anyway!

I had the same Problem when the KSU Brothers started a KC Area Alum group and contacted me! I got ahold of some of my Chapter Alums and so it expanded the Alum base!

After about a year, they said we have other prioritys! Well it worked out Great as we were looking to start our own Alum group which ended up bigger than theres! HAHA!

Hell with the I can do it snob Sisters! Go for the Gold with the Younger Sisters!

If I was told that, I would tell to kiss my rear if you get my drift!

You are to good a person to get snubbed like that!:)

I will say it again "Self Impotence is under Whelmin":D

There isn't an AX alum group ANYwhere near, but I did find a listing of AXs, so I KNOW we have some in the area. It was never my intention to FORM an alum group (I honestly don't think I have the energy or "where-with-all" to do it.) ALL I wanted was to make sure the PNMs got a rec for recruiment.

I see by your response you know EXACTLY what I'm facing. One more reason to miss my old stomping grounds... I know it's hard to take it all in, but I am CONVINCED it's just another form of good old Louisiana politics.

So, more to the point. I am wondering if these alum groups are governed by NPC? (Or is it NAC?) I did find them listed.
Do we HAVE to have an AXO Alum Association in order to participate?
WHO MAKES THE RULES?

I wish I had the youth and detemination of "wishingandhoping"
I'm just one of those people who-When someone says "No you can't." I spit in their eye and say "Yes I can!" Life throws enough obstacles in our way. Neither I nor the PNMs need some self promoting, self important, Vanity Fair rejects dictating which GLOs do or do NOT get a letter of reference for these wonderful PNMs!

JAM,

Please email me with your location (I forget) and I can tell you the NPC Area Advisor for Alumnae Panhellenics for your area. Is the APH in your area a 'formal' one (ie. chartered through the NPC) or just a bunch of ladies who lunch and write recs as needed?

Please let me know - I'd love to help. You know Panhellenic is my other 'love'!

It's on the way!:D

argh!

Oooh, I hate hearing of cliques like that! So childish! I am looking forward to hearing what happens...and I am sure Penguintrax is giving you good advice..

My experience in our local Alumnae Panhellenic was mostly for the Reference Information Committee (RIC) - I was KD's member, but it disbanded...seems no one had "in's" to the local high schools anymore.

BTW, don't forget to check out the NPC website:

The more you know about the group, the better!

Thanks kdonline. You're right, the more you know the better.
As far as HS-they don't even visit anymore. We once set up tables and had representatives man them. Too many issues (a few I know, others I don't) came up and they quit.

It's funny, but I never thought about these things because I didn't know they existed and they didn't have any influence on my life. NOW, it bums me out!

I'm starting to feel like Mel Gibson in "Conspiracy Theory".;)
