I need a poem..... help please

Hey all,

Recruitment is right around the corner and its time for us to make out congratulations on joining AOII signs to hang on the new mems doors, and I need a poem. I found one that'll do, but I want more than something that works, I want something that's inspiring....:D . Do you all have a favorite poem, either AOPi related or not that you could recommend? I'd really appreciate the help.

Smiles,
Alinda

It's not a poem, but a verse that a sister once gave me. Hope it helps:

From a PR standpoint, I'd do an AOII poem - so that others walking by can get that OOOOO Ahhhh feeling about AOII.

Here's the words of a song my chapter used to sing - I think it's appropriate -

What is a Sister
An AOII sister?
She's one that loves you right or wrong
For when you're in sorrow
And you feel there's no tomorrow
She'll help you and your troubles will be gone

Here's a Toast to Alpha Omicron Pi
To the Rose, to the Sheaf, to Alpha Love
I'm so glad that I'm an AOII
For to me, it's just like heaven above.

What is our sisterhood
Our AOII Sisterhood?
It's one of loyalty for all.
We'll all stand together
Through clear and cloudy weather
Because we're all are sisters we'll stand tall

Here's a Toast to Alpha Omicron Pi
To the Rose, to the Sheaf, to Alpha Love
I'm so glad that I'm an AOII
For to me, it's just like heaven above.

just a thought...

I don't think I've ever heard this song...does it follow a familiar tune?

Christin,

I've never heard the tune in anything else. But I know that KII had some songs that I've asked others if they know and they do not. Who knows. Something to do with when we were founded? Someone wrote them? I have NO idea. But there are some really pretty songs that we used to sing and that was one of them.

I'll sing it for you at the next Corp Board meeting. That is, as long as the little "peanut" arrives when s/he is supposed to!

Roses,
Heidi

The lyrics are lovely! Have you thought about submitting the song to the AOII Ultimate Singing Experience? The information for this can be found on the Sisters Online section of the AOII website. I do not recall hearing this particular song when I was a collegiate, but that is more than 10 years ago at this point and I think I am losing my memory in my old age.

Heidi,

You tell that little "Peanut" that he or she better arrive on time! We're all eager to know if "Peanut" is a legacy or a future AOII husband :)

I'm holding you to singing all those KII songs, too, so practice! I think submitting to the song experience is a great idea too. It's one of the most beautiful AOII songs I've ever seen.

Christin

OK. Thanks for your encouragement. I'm writing out the lyrics on sheet music and should be happy with the results by the end of the week. If anyone would like me to scan in the sheet music and send to them - let me know.

BTW - my dogs think I'm weird. They see me go to that piano and they KNOW I can't play it! he he. And then they see me try to figure out the notes. If I can say so myself - not bad for a non-music major!

:)
