Did you know Nelly & Kelly's song "Dilemma"......
......sounds VERY similar to the 80's version of the "Hollywood Squares" theme (as performed by Stormy Sacks)?
I know this sounds like a fluke, but it really does, right down the the xylophone background music. Don't believe me? Check it out! Short version (Audience ticket plug) Or.... Regular Hollywood Squares '86 theme song See, dancing to game show theme music isn't corny after all, now is it??;) :D *LOL* EDIT NOTE: The extended HS theme was the wrong one I wanted to show--the "correct" one is now linked. Sorry for the error |
Nelly actually sampled Patti LaBelle's song "Love Need and Want You". A video has been made for the song and she is making an appearance in it.
;) :p |
Fee Fee,
I'm not disputing the source of where Nelly & Kelly got it from, I was just merely saying that the similarities between the two melodies are frighteningly close. I just hope Stormy Sacks doesn't holler "lawsuit" (j/k :D ) BTW, everytime I hear the repetitive "Ohhhh!" in the background beat, i say right before it "X". Just gotta give it my own unique flava. But at any rate, I love the song. |
never seems to amaze me

Probably TRL
the video which has Patti playing Kelly's mother premieres tomorrow on MTV...

Oh my goodness! I opened that track and I busted out laughing. The resembelence is shocking! Where did you pick that information up?
Hootie |
I saw the video the other day, and I thought the video was cute. I like Nelly and Kelly together. Now what I thought was a little low was Kelly driving her man's car and picking up Nelly in it. Then when they return home, Nelly is driving the car. What gives......but all in all I still thought the video was cute.

Believe it or not, I discovered the resemblance by accident. I remember the 80s Hollywood Squares theme while watching it as a kid. Well, about a month ago, I heard the "Dilemma" melody coming from someone's car stereo, and I was like "that melody sounds awfully familiar". It took me about three minutes to realize the similarity to the "Hollywood Squares" theme, and the xylophone background, and I freaked out. BTW, for all you current HS fans, as you may now know, Whoopi Goldberg has been fired from HS as executive producer; Henry Winkler (Fonzie) will be replacing Whoopi as exec. producer. The center square will go to various celebrities on a rotating basis (for now anyways). The corny "I Love Hollywood" theme song is also scheduled to be scrapped, and Peter Marshall (HS host 1966-1981) is also scheduled to be a celebrity square sometime in October. Oh, no word yet on if the Stormy Sacks theme will be reinstated this fall--it should IMHO, after all if they kept Shadoe Stevens as announcer, they should keep the 80s theme song. That's all for now--keep on postin' RM |
Rainmain, *sigh*
You know you can't come in here talkin' bout Whoopie got fired and not tell us why or nothin'. Can I get a little more info, please? Thanks. :)

"Dilemma" my a&%! Suck it up, deal with it, and just move on! :D |
I noticed that too; huh, kind of careless. I can't even think of a guy that would want to drive their honey's man car. If anything they might by slim posibility ride in it but surely not drive it. But I quess that just they wanted the video to be. A dilemma!!!!:D

Whoopi decided not to pursue a 5th season on HS after King World, HS synidication distributor wanted to "reduce her take". What it sounds like was that the ratings were sliding badly and despite Whoopi's efforts to save the show with that out-of-place "rapid-fire" bonus round (much like the "Match-Up" portion of the 1990 revival of Match Game), the ratings still slid. So King World kinda "pushed" her into the abyss, so to speak. |
Update on this season's goings on.

Oh, and this week is Game Show Week. Rod Roddy is the announcer this week, Carol Merrill is modeling the prizes and bumpers and Secret Square questions have featured Monty Hall and Bob Barker, among other. Celebrites included Jim Lange, Bob Eubanks, Wink Martindale, Jimmie Walker, and Match Game's Brett Sommers and Charles Nelson Reilly sharing a square. Center square is the only, the only, the master of the Hollywood Squares, Peter Marshall, who after 21 years hosted the show today!!!!:D :D :) :) ! Cool treat. Well, 8 years actually if you count the "East Hollywood Squares" sketches on "In Living Color". But this week has been the bomb!!! Go Fonzie! |
