Ideas for fall COB parties
Hey everyone!
At my school we have Rush in the spring semester. So we COB all fall.Well, i was just wondering if anyone had idea for COB parties that would be fun and inexpensive!! The main problem is we do not have a house soo we have things at sister's houses or at 3rd party venders ( no drinking is involved). IF you have any ideas please help me out!! We are a small chapter in the process of rebuilding. we already have girls interested but we want to get more girls. any help would be great! phi sig lovin' mary |
This sounds exactly like my chapter! We're also in the process of rebuilding, and our COB will take place the first three weeks of school.
I'm not sure exactly what we're doing, but I know that we are going bowling one night (usually you can get discount prices), and we've done a Dawson's Creek/Ice Cream Night. I believe we're also doing Kareokee on our porch, but I don't think that idea will work as well since you do not have a house. My sister, who is in charge of COB, is supposed to e-mail me sometime soon. Maybe I can give you more ideas then! ------------------ "We're not good because we're old. We're old because we're good!" |
We did a beatnik theme COB party that was fun. We all wore black (cheap, since we all already had tons o' black clothes) and recited silly poems. If you remember the Laverne and Shirley episode where they started going to the coffeehouse, that's basically what we did. Hope this helps!

I hope this thread keeps going-we are always looking for new ideas! Here's one we used last semester and EVERYONE loved it. I know, that seems farfetched, but we all hurt from laughing so hard at the end of the night! Unfortunately, we didn't have any PM's at the party, but it was a great sisterhood anyway! Divide the chapter into groups of 5 or 6 and buy enough one-time cameras for each one. Develop a silly list of things around campus to take pictures of (I reccomend them to be within walking distance or on the campus shuttle route to eliminate the whole driving liability thing http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif ). We used things like "get a picture with the group with 7 out of 9 of the fraternities", do a pyramid in the library, etc. (I can email you the list we used if you want). We didn't exactly make it a contest, just to see the goofiest pictures and have a good time doing it, but you can just as easily make up silly certificates on a computer, for example-most embarassed looking boy, you know-stuff that doesn't really place "victory" on any one group and cause division/competition in front of PMN's. Have someone take the cameras to a one-hour place the next day and have the same gals over that night for a viewing party. We had pizza that night, but if $ is a concern, you can of course do popcorn/soda, etc. We put the photos in an album to have on a table during formal rush this fall so we can tell about how much fun we had together. So you get benefits for more than just one rush! If I didn't explain this well, just let me know and I'll try again.

You can play "bigger or better" A lot of people at my school do this. Divide the group up into small groups of about 3-5 girls. Give each group a small, worthless item (like a thumbtack or a bandaid). Make a time limit (45 minutes or so). Every group has to go out and try to trade the items for something bigger or better. You can't use a car to get around, and when you trade, make sure that it is something you don't have to give back. It's really fun to see what everybody gets in the end. When I played we went to all the fraternities and we were carrying old nasty mattresses and useless computers and stuff all over the place. We laughed our asses off. Our group 'lost' but it was so fun anyway.
