Sandwich Shops
Ok, I'm pretty sure you all know a mom and pop sandwich shop you think is better than all the commercial ones, but I was wondering which ones you thought was the best?
Subway- Tastes pretty good, but too expensive for what you get. They raised prices just to make their new kinds of bread, which is just a white roll dipped in some spices. But good none the less. Togos- I think their meat's too dry, and the sandwiches are kinda small. Quiznos - I like the "toasted" angle they sell, but you can just get ANY sandwich and put it in your oven. Sumbarina- My personal favorite. Sure theyre kinda steep in price, but the sandwiches are big, and they arent shy with toppings and such. Well, you're turn........... |
The only big sandwich shops we have here is subway, tubby's, blimpies, and quiznos, and they all SUCK!
|

Oh cool.
Back to the topic at hand. I've never tried Blimpies but I've heard they're not so good. |
I may be in Maryland, but my heart (and stomach) still resides back in Pittsburgh where I grew up. My favorite local sandwich places there are Primanti Brothers and Rudy's Subs :)
Here in Maryland I haven't found any mom and pop places I absolutely love, so I enjoy Subway. |
I like Subway's stuff. The Vegimax is my favorite sandwich.... Looks and smells awful but tastes really good.

For all you Marylanders, there is a restaraunt in Crofton that has the best sub I have ever had. The place is called Rafters, it is on 450. It is a little bar kinda place. You can get the sub with ham or turkey and they put this kinda spicy sauce and they put it in the oven. We always get the foot long and take the rest home. It is just as good the next day if you put it in the oven for a couple of minutes. I really think you should try it!

In Chicago, Jimmy John's ROCKS! I also visit Subway.

Two Jays in Altamonte Springs, Florida YUM
I'm a Subway girl really love it. Reminds me of beach days down in Florida even when it's a cold day up in NYC. |
Around here there are, as you said, several "Mom and Pop's" ones that are good, especially in the North End and around Governtment Center.
As far as the chains - I'm a big Quizno's fan, but like Subway as well. I used to like DeAngelo's, but got tired of it pretty quickly. |

Down at Ohio U they have a place called the Pita Pit. It's fabulous. I would attend OU just for that place if I had the chance!
