Does anyone know...

How to get oil out of fabric? I splashed a little bit of olive oil on my 100% polyester dress yesterday. I dabbed it with water but it hasn't come out. I don't want to wash it (it is washable though)and risk setting the stain. I also don't want to take any color out of it, it's bright pink, anyone know what to use? I have heard things like Dawn de-greaser dishsoap, Goop, orange cleaners that they have in auto parts stores???

Oooh, watch out in the future. Polyester is an oil-loving fabric, so you might want to keep that in mind.

Take it to the dry cleaners... they will know what to do.

try a craft store... at joanns... we sell this stuff called Stain Devil. I heard it works pretty good. And orange clean is also a good deal too.

This is going to sound nuts, but it really works!

Look around and see if you can find some good old fashioned water-less hand cleanser... you know, the stuff mechanics use to clean oil off of their hands with.

Supposedly, it works on any kind of stain as long as the stain hasn't set. You just rub it in and then rinse with water. I've tried it on a blood stain (MY blood, not somebody else's!) and it worked!

Good luck!

XOXO,
Annie.

I am the queen of spilling food and other things on my clothes, so here is my advice:

Use Dawn diswashing detergent on oil or grease stains. Put it on the stain and rub with some water, then blot it with a paper towel.

Use hairspray or rubbing alcohol on ink stains (I bought a dress that was marked down to $8 because it had a big red ink stain on it, and the stain came right out with hairspray!).

Use hydrogen peroxide on blood stains (do a color-fastness check first).

If all else fails, Shout works pretty well on almost everything.
