I read the local newspaper because

"I like to read the Arrest Log to see if anyone I know is in there!"

This was an actual quote in the small-town local paper that I get. I just about died laughing!!:D :D

Was there a pic of this person? Perhaps you know who this person is. You don't want friends whose friends may end up in jail. LOL :p

AGDLynn 08-24-2002 02:53 PM

Actually, there was but I didn't know them, lol!!;) :D

That's funny!

I know when I worked at a shop on the beach, we would look at the arrest log for co-workers.

I work as a reporter on the school's TV news station. The newspaper sometimes has good ideas for local stories.

I read two local newspapers because I'm a business journalist and I need to find out what they are doing. Because our readers have limited time with us, I can't duplicate what they've got. ;)

Besides, I like having a working knowledge of current events, although I am sort of old-school when it comes to conversation -- read I don't bring up topics like religion and politics w/people I just met.
:p

Hey, Steeltrap -- We're moving to our new building next weekend. Check the N-S Web site tomorrow for a story about it. We visited last week. It's a beautiful building inside, lots of desk space, and lots of windows! We can actually see outside!

Hi Silverblue,

Thanks for the tip. Windows will be quite an improvement. ;)

In the old building, there wasn't much window space. I will go to the site -- I was wondering what was going down in K-town. :)

BTW, Silverblue and I go back more than a decade. I met her in the early 1990s and were colleagues at the same paper. She's still there.

I read the local newspaper because...

The conversation with the parakeet in the cage is not that stimulating...

(See, the paper is in the bottom of the cage, and...Oh, never mind.)

When I was a kid, I had this fascination for reading the Obituaries. I liked to see how old people were before they died.

Recently I had been reading the paper every day because they liked to feature a certain someone that I HAD been seeing. Now if they have his picture printed, I like to cut em out and throw darts at it.

Just kidding.

I read it for the announcements (to see if I know anyone that is getting married, a scholarship, or becoming an eagle scout...lol)

I also like to see how my old HS is doing in sports

I know this is off topic, but I love to read the engagement and wedding announcements. I like to see which women were Chi Omegas (specifically) and if there's anyone in there I know.

So fun!

to kill time.

I also like the metro section the most. Good info on road closures. (Forgot to check that one this weekend and was 30 minutes late to a wedding, fortunately so was everyone, DAMN 410 construction).

Also to see whats going on in town, business developments, etc.
