Long distance socials?
 

Maybe this should be in the social forum but whatever. I had an idea recently that could be fun for everyone involved. Has anyones house ever done long distance socials with fraternities or sororities? For example... Our house does a social with Pi phi's down in USC right before a football game between UW and USC. And they can come up and do one the next year when they play here and so on. Anyone ever heard of this? Granted I have heard of brotherhoods between two different chapters but no social or anything. Is there something against this or is it do-able?

About 4 years ago a bunch of ladies from Gamma Phi Beta at Florida State came up and had a social with us. Definately wasn't the whole sorority but a bunch of girls. It was alot to us because the GLO sizes at FSU and VSU are greatly different. We were going to make crossing the border shirts but it never panned out because each org wanted to make it in their own city and the other org didn't want to drive that far to pick up their half the shirts.lol

Last january about 15 members of the Penn State Delta Upsilon chapter visited Ohio U and came by our house to see what our chapter was like. they also threw a party and invited our entire chapter while they were visiting....does that count?

I know that many of our Ethnic GLOs have socials with other school's chapters because they don't have many GLOs to do Socials with here (IFC and PHC never do socials with them). The two Asian fraternities and the three asian sororities have socials with UCSD, UC Irvine, CSULB and even UCLA. I give them a lot of credit for going that route to socialize with other Greeks like them.

I know a couple of chapters that have done "long-distance" socials between my school and a neighboring one. However, I think it is becoming increasingly rare due to regulations. Some sororities have rules governing how far away parties or socials can be, etc... (For instance, if alcohol is present it has to be within city limits or sixty miles). So, they have to be kept undercover if they're going on.
