Best Frat/Soro Memory

I was wondering what is your best memory from your frat/soro? I have 2 real quick sweet stories:

1) During pledging I met an older sister that I was really close too - she was SO dedicated to our group and I always wanted to serve as well as she did. After I was initiated, I decided to tell her how great she was to me. Well she told me that the reason she was so dedicated is that during her initiation that right in the middle when she was to receive her sister pin, that out of nowhere her mother appeared to pin her! Her mom was a founding sister of another chapter and was so proud to have a legacy that she contacted the president to arrange it (and no one but the president knew). Afterwards her mom gave a little speech about founding her chapter and what the group meant to her and how great it was to share in the day for her legacy! Everyone that was there said it was their happiest memory! I was all teary just hearing about it!

2) My happiest moment, however, was seeing half of my chapter sisters at my wedding, even though the wedding was out of town! I knew they were coming, and had ordered corsages for them to wear. But it was so great to come to my reception and join our circle to sing together! There were so many people who were teary eyed about it, even though they aren't greek. Several people came up to me afterward and said they wished they had joined a greek organization because they saw how much love we have for each other! Even watching it on the video still makes me cry!

Anyway, I just thought it would be nice if we could share stories that were uplifting and reminded us of our common bonds!

I had a similar experience at my wedding when my sorors sang our hymn to me. I posted that memory in the "Share Your Nice Story" thread on this board.

I agree we should concentrate more on what is positive about our greek experiences. I think they speak more volumes than trying to shout down or convince someone who has a negative view of our organizations. Thanks for starting this thread!

One of my favorites happened last year during a "Reflections" program at our National Convention. We were playing an inspirational song, and without prompting, all the sisters in the room (from chapters across the country, most of whom had not met before the weekend) began linking arms, swaying and singing... hard to describe but it was one of those really special moments! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

The day after my initiation into my BGLO I was at an elementary school helping out with our after school program. It was Easter and the children were about to have their Easter egg hunt. I helped hide eggs and at the edn of the day I passed out refreshments to the visibly excited young faces. I even watched a Peter Cottontail adaptation with them. At its conclusion I helped clean after the children left. Nothing can touch you, or rejuvenate you like the innocence of a child.
