help! quick fix for zits
Okay, not the most fun subject.
In general I have great skin, however the past few weeks i've gotten a few more zits than usual, well i usually get none. I know it's from a combo of stress, very hot weather and no air conditioning, and the fact that I use a phone all day. I have law school orientation starting Thursday, as well as a big Alumnae Association meeting tomorrow (it's a new AA and i'm the President!). Anybody have some quick fixes to help them go away/ mask them? I'm trying all I can but it's not helping. Thanks in advance! Your advice on migraines was excellent, so i'm hoping for more wonderful advice from my GCers! |
Clean and Clear makes this great, great blemish control gel... it is clear (get it? clean and "clear") and has a purple lid, but I can't remember the name...
Also, if you buy some witch hazel at the grocery or health foods store, it is a natural astringent. And, if all else fails, or if you are don't have time or money to go buy something... try toothpaste! |

Whoa... rxychrldr!!! You are pretty hardcore on your derma-knowledge!!! I'm impressed... the only problem I see with the stronger stuff is it sometimes makes my skin dry and flaky... yuck!!! A zit + flakiness = double gross...

If you really want to get rid of a pimple fast, go to your dermatologist and ask for a cortisone injection. They will reduce the swelling and the redness in a matter of hours.
|
Cortisone injections for a zit? I think that's a little rash. (Buh-dum, ching!)
But really now, it's just a few zits. Wash your face, don't touch your face, ice them to bring down the swelling. And then get on with life. We all get zits. |
Steroids definitely work for me. Usually within 12 hrs the redness is almost gone and by 24 hrs the pimple is usually gone.

Use toothpaste. The ingredients dry out the oil.

Yeah, Dionysus is right, toothpaste works wonders! I usually use it once a week to wash my face with, and then wash it off with my regular products.

Toothpaste is the shiznit! However if you have very sensative skin, like myself, only dab a slight bit on and work in. don't glob it on or else it'll redden your skin.
Hope that helps! Hootie |
Crush up an aspirin and add a little water to make a paste. Aspirin contain salylic acid, and this is the easiest way to get a concentrated dose. But toothpaste is awesome.
Sidenote: if you crush up an aspirin and add it to your shampoo once a week, it will also get rid of buildup and make it shiny! |

i have done the asprin trick and it works wonders.... i put the asprin paste on before bed and leave it on ....
another thing i do it hydrogen perioxide and rubbing alcohol.. yes it is strong but it drys out the " problem area" quickly... use the HP 1st and put it on a cotton ball, leave on skn for 1-3 minutes than use the RA for 30 sec-1 min after DO NOT TOUCH do before bed hope it helps... |
Clinique makes an Emergency Mask that really does the trick for me. It came in one of their samples and I fell in love :D
