I believe that I just saw the DZ recruitment team on Friday afternoon in one of our local greek stores (they told the owner they were from DZ and were looking for bid day stuff I assume). I just wanted to let you know that you have a very beautiful, polite and classy looking group recruiting here for you!!!:)

Thanks UF56! I have no doubt in my mind that they are going to do an awesome job. I am sure that they were shopping for stuff to make sure that the awesome ladies who get selected to be founders of the new chapter will have the best new member period imaginable! We are all very excited about the new UF chapter and I think everyone is pretty certain that this chapter will become one of the strongest on campus there! This is so exciting! I wish I could be there!

I also wanted to comment on the dz colinization team... they stopped by our house this aftrernoon with a gift basket of goodies for us, and let me tell you, it was gone in 10 minutes! they were very, very nice, and it was well appreciated.

Just so you DZ's know there are a lot of girls in my group who are asking about you and are really interested, but (and this makes me mad) our pi chis keep telling them no matter how much they want to go DZ dont drop out and go all the way through recruitment. They also told us that if we signed at prefs we could still go DZ which is wrong and we had a beta eta confirm it this morning. To me if these awesome women want to go DZ do not discourage them. They are like it's going to be a lot of work and you wont have a lot of spare time and you wont have a house for awhile and on and on. But I am NOT going to let them sway my decision and I keep telling the girls around me not to let it sway theres either. SO I think you guys are going to end up with a lot of women coming DZ because so many are asking about it.;)

Thanks so much for your post! I'm so glad to hear that you and others are interested in helping Delta Zeta to become a full-fledged chapter on the UF campus! :D Good luck with your Rush Week. I've been reading your updates in the Rush thread, and am on pins and needles waiting to find out where you wind up! :)

One thing that bothers me is that Pi Chis should NOT be dissuading you or any other rushee from being interested in a colony. I am upset to hear about this news. :( The Pi Chis' main job is to be unbiased, and to not offer their own opinions about any particular chapter/colony on campus during the Rush period.

I just graduated from the University of Tampa, and I know a group of our girls helped present to UF why to bring DZ to their school. Good job to those who got the chapter there and good luck to the new chapter!

I just came across this thread....

The DZ ladies had a table set up in Turlington Plaza....this is one of the busiest walkways throughout campus. During *peak* hours, it can be very difficult to walk through the crowds.

Anyway, they had a table set up with balloons, banners, and a bunch of other DZ things. They also had a full page ad in the Alligator (the student newspaper), and have run smaller ads throughout the week. I live in a dorm on campus, and my mailbox has been bombarded with DZ flyers.

I just wanted let everyone know that they're doing a great job publicizing the colonization. :D

Hi, I heard that DZ is going to cut girls after their preference party.
So does that mean that you can go to their pref and then open an empty envelope the next day? Or are they going to call you and tell you not to come to pick up a bid?

I wouldn't listen to rumors like this. I"m sure that all the procedures will be explained at the first informational meeting held. Be patient or ask one of the colony advisors when you see them on campus.

PnguinTrax is right...this is nothing more than a rumor. Unfortunately, while I know the general process of recruitment during a colonization, I have no idea whether they actually have "preference" parties, or how they extend the bids. It will most likely be based on a personal interview between the PNM and the extension committee... They will probably use the "parties" as an opportunity to see how people interact with eachother, but I honestly have no idea. Definitely ask the question of the advisors if it isn't answered at the informational meeting.

I feel like I am having to go through Rush all over again. I have gone onto the DZ website looking for an alumnae chapter in my area and of course there isnt one (never is :D ) So if any one could help me try to find some alums in my area that I could possibly meet or speak with about a rec I would greatly appreciate it!!! I am so excited about DZ!!! Cant wait!!!

PM me and tell me where you are from (or are you just trying to find someone in Gainesville?) & your contact information. I will post a note to the Surfing Sisters (our nationwide internet alum chapter) and see if there is anyone in or around that area that can meet with you to see about getting a rec. (I promise, I'm not a weirdo!). Good luck to you-this is very exciting!
