Help with colonizing sorority!
Hi all!
Currently I am participating in rush for a new sorority in my campus and freaking out because I feel so lost! So basically what the sister told the pnms is that to be considered you had to participate in an interview. Afterwards, if you got selected they would invite you to "preference night" and afterwards pref night you would get invite to "bid day." So... How would preference night be and how do you think they'll select the bids? Would getting to preference night assure you a bid in the case of a colonizing sorority? |

I can only speak for MY sorority but I can try to answer your questions in a general sense: *Each event is progressively more formal and requires an invite. *Preference Night usually involves some members sharing their experience, a short ceremony and 1:1 conversation with a member or two. *Membership selection is private information so we cannot share how members are selected and how sororities determine who will receive bids. *Preference Night invitations do not guarantee bids, even with colonies. |

No, getting to pref party does not assure you a bid. The colonizers are going to go over their lists several more times to make sure they have a compatible group that will fill the group's many needs. Just relax. There's no need to freak. This is out of your hands, anyway. And yes, I've seen girls interview for the initial group, be released, and then come back a year later and pledge. |
Like anything new, it is a trial and error judgement so bear with it. So follow the rules being set up for a New Greek Organization. It may be a good fit, or it may not.
All any of us can say is the very best of luck to you and the new Sorority. Just hang in there and see how it plays out. Please keep us informed on how it is going. It may help other G C Members in the future! |
