questions for KDs

Hey ya'll. I have a couple of questions, but they come with background. I'm 25, and still in school because I transferred, took 3 years off to work and help with family stuff, and changed my major. I still have 2 1/2 years left. I never rushed because my GPA had been too low. I've been working to get my GPA up so that I could rush, and it's high enough now. I have been really involved on campus and thorughout the community through various organizations, and have several community service hours. Joining a sorority is the one thing left that I've wanted to do in college that I haven't done yet. I have several women who have offered to write recs to KD for me, and I still have time to devote to a sorority. So here are my questions:

1) My GPA has been awesome for the past 3 semesters, but is only a 2.5 overall. How big of a deal is this?
2) How big of a deal is my age?
3) I have 3 women that have offered to write recs for me - 2 alumnae and an active. Do I need more or is that enough?

I'm partial to KD because I've known so many awesome girls, and my 2 roommates, who are both 19 and juniors as well, are looking at rushing with me. Advice?

You know what I say?? GO FOR IT. KD strives for diversity. KD thrives on diversity and obviously you are unique, something quite rare that doesn't happen too often, that should happen.
You obvioulsy know what it is like to hang with 19 year olds, so if you don't mind that, and you don't mind that maybe these girls rushing with you are younger and may not be on the same level as you are, why not??
Have those KD's write those references for you (You know those will help) and do it.
As for GPA..is 2.5 your cumulative? And as for GPA questions all I can say is they vary from campus to campus.
I say follow your heart. That is what I tell all PM's while going through rush, it will lead you down the right path.
I hope everyone agrees with me.

I definately say go for it marzipan!
You've made definately progress in your academics and life. 3 recs is wonderful and will speak a lot for you. If you are concerned about anything, be open and honest about your situation and what you've done with your life. Explaining things a little helps eliminate any speculation. Talk up your grades and your improvement, and your commitment to your family. Definately will be impressive. Be yourself and be honest, and you'll be fine!
Good luck! Please ask any other questions if you need to!

I would be happy to have you as my sister, marizpan!! You have it all together now, and I'm sure that our chapter at your school will recognize that. When is your rush??

Thanks MoxieGirl!! Actually, I'm going to miss forml rush this year. :(
However, the women that are sending recs for me are sending them in time for next semester, so I'm hoping that KD will have some openings. (My GPA is just now high enough - It cam up at the end of summer school too late for me to sign up.) Have a great week!!!
