Plus size clothing

Hey, I will admit I am a Big Girl! But it is hard to find stylish clothes. Lane Bryant is the place of choice.. and I have heard of Ashley Stewart. I don't want to look like a old lady, balloon, garbage bag.. or anything like that. Everybody got at least one big friend. Please help!! post websites if possible!:p

If you can travel, go to a Nordstrom Rack or an Off Fifth Saks Fifth Avenue Outlet in a large city suburb (I'm thinking Chicago, perhaps.)
They will usually have quality plus-size clothing, such as Ellen Tracy, Dana Buchman, Lauren Ralph Lauren, Jones New York, Due Per Due, Talora and Classiques, et al. If you can get to a Bloomingdale's or a Macy's, they will have INC and Alfani Woman. If you can get to a Loehmann's, they have Marina Rinaldi (which is very pricey in stores but about 80 percent to 90 percent off)

I have to tell you, however, that bridge and better plus-size clothing is generally designed and marketed for people 30 and older, career women. Because of that, I can't help you with junior plus sizes. BTW, I'm a 37-year-old "tweener" who wears plus on my bottom. :p

Also, for the Web try:
www.alight.com
www.ullapopken.com (sizes 12-34)
www.kiyonna.com
www.avenue.com (Used to be Lerner Woman, not bad for mass clothing)

Liz Claiborne opened another branch of stores called Elisabeth, and they carry beautiful plus-size clothing.

Casual Corner has a plus size store, too, but I don't remember the name of it. It starts with either a J or a M, lol. I bet that helped you a lot, lol.

There is a store here called Added Dimensions, and it is really nice! Expensive, but nice. I would shop there for sorority outfits, but not really much else. Whew, they have some nice suits!!! They are supposed to be closing shop soon, I hope I didn't miss the sale.

I am an avid fan of Ashley Stewart, and wished there was one in my city. I've never seen anything frumpy in there. I go every time I'm in Cleveland or Toledo.

Now, another thing, you can look in the cheapy stores, lol, like Dots... stuff like that. Now, remember, these are not quality clothes. They should be bought for wearing just a little bit, lol. Like tank tops, stuff like that. Always a cheap, easy way to find something to wear 'out.'

The store is called August Max Woman. They sell some casual clothing, but their main staple is business clothing. They are kinda pricy though. Be looking to pay $175+ for a business suit (that ain't on sale).

I normally shop at Lane Bryant for casual clothing. I usually wait until it goes on sale to buy anything. I just have a hard time paying $100 for one casual outfit. I have ordered a few things from
Avenue, but they can be sort of pricy also. You get the best things in their catalogues or the web. I have purchased several things from Jessica London's catalogue. I have gotten some great quality dresses and casual clothing.

Well, I just finished looking at the new Roamans and Lane Bryant catalogs, and they had some NICE stuff in there. Just remember with Lane Bryant that the store and the catalog are TOTALLY different. AND PLEASE get on the Avenue mailing list, they ALWAYS send out some good coupons. Those are the main 3 I use, oh and Jessica London. AND YES PLEASE GO TO ROSS, MARSHALLS, AND TZ MAXX. You have to look good, but I've gotten DESIGNER clothes from there in big sizes. But you have to always check back, their inventory changes all the time.

Believe me, you do have to look hard at Ross, Marshalls and TJ Maxx. I found some Selection de Givenchy, originally from Saks Salon Z, at TJ Maxx. For $20, $40, some 90% off retail.
A couple of years ago, I found some Saks Fifth Avenue women's pieces from Ross, such as Dana Buchman and Salon Z house brand. You can also find Avenue and Lane Bryant at such stores --I got my Avenue chinos from Ross for $15.:D

One good thing about Jessica London is that they cater to casual and business attire. I have ordered several things from then and have never been disapointed (sp?). Another place for "Us" is Essence by Mail. The clothing can get quite ethnic (loud colors and patterns) but they carry some beautiful things that I have found on sale. I have never been dissatisfied with their product and I have probably bought 6 dresses and never paid over $40 for any of them.

If you're looking for plus-size junior's type clothes, try this website:

http://www.gfla.com

They have pretty much everything in their catalog in plus-sizes, and while I'd recommend measuring yourself before you order (I've always had problems with junior's sizes since I actually have a chest), they have really cute clothes in all sizes. :) Hope that helps!

Don't Forget GAP

You can go to the online store @ GAP too. They do carry some of their stuff in sizes 18-20/XXL. The store carries up to size 16/XL. Here's the link: GAP Online

I'm pretty sexy for a 16-18 :D and I like to show my body (appropriately, now)...but I feel everybody's frustration when you go to some of these stores and the clothes are all big and baggy and stuff. So I appreciate all the sites that have been posted up so far. I've seen some nice ones, too bad I do not have a credit card!! But I'm sure that I can get a catalogue or something.
