Caucasian in a Latina-founded sorority
 

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this thread, but I'm not sure where else it should be. I'm posting for a friend seeing as she doesn't have an account here on GC.

She was wondering, being the school she attends has so many sororities in its Greek life system if it would be weird if a Caucasian girl were to join a Latina-founded sorority. She knows joining the Divine Nine most likely isn't possible for her, she's just trying to explore all the groups at her campus.

I'm just glad she's trying to go in with an open mind and I'm hoping for the best for her.

Crazy idea, why can't you tell your friend about GreekChat, make her own account and let her post her question?

She understands her situation better than anyone.

For the most part, the Latinx organizations do not care about your background, as long as you are aware that much of the programming will likely revolve around Latinx advancement.

ETA: D9 membership is not out of the question for Caucasian folks, but the same thing applies (programming will revolve around AfAm advancement).

It's pretty normal. Every group has members who are more diverse than they were historically. If the group is a fit for her and she feels like she supports its mission, go for it.
