Get to know them
 

Hey guys, what events do you guys do for rush that allow you to get to know them? Parties are fun but you don't necessarily get to concentrate on them. Athletic events are the same - the rushes concentrate on playing the sport rather than talking to the brothers and getting to "know" them.

We prefer barbecues, pizza nights, and things usually involving us sitting down and eating with them for this. What about you guys?

How about a speaker followed by a 'mocktail' party with drinks and food? You could bring in a speaker that would have relevance for both the active members and the potential members:

We've learned that the best way to get to know women is by doing something with them. At our last COB party, we made beauty baskets for women in a nursing home. The rushees get to sit around with the sisters and just make baskets and talk and have a good time. Besides, you're not so focused on talking, because you talk while you're making the baskets. We also do things like tie dye parties or candle making parties. Doing something with them takes the pressure off of the women. After, we usually have pizza or something.

the guys at my school like to have barbecues/cookouts where they call up their favorite guys and everyone eats together at the fraternity house... popular freshmen get invited to these sorts of things two or three times a week (at various houses) during the fall! sometimes girls are invited too... typically freshmen and friends of the brothers... can't hurt http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif
