Pittsburgh Greeks, local greek stores?

Hi Everyone,
I've noticed a lot of people from Pittsburgh posting lately. I am in the process of desperately trying to find lettered shirts for our colony at Duquesne U. We need 20 or so of various sizes by next wednesday (21st) at the latest.

I went to the "campus bookstore" on 5th Ave and they told me two weeks... and we need them sooner. I've looked everywhere and I cannot find another place locally that sells letters! Is there another place that sells letters ANYWHERE in Pittsburgh??

There are three universities with greek systems, there must be some place!

Hi Tony!
Great to see another Pittsburgher.
Unfortunately, the Campus Bookstore is the only real place to get them. Last time i got letters there they were actually done in less than a week. Very good quality too.

You can order them from the guy on the corner by the Cathedral, the place that sells all the Pitt merchandise- the Pitt Stop.
However the quality is bad, and i guarantee you that he'll lose your order and it'll take at least a month.

It is odd that there's no where to get stuff. I always wondered where Duquesne and CMU people get their stuff.... the campus bookstore mainly carries items for Pitt Greeks.

I don't know if you can get them any quicker online anywhere.... may be worth a shot. The can always priority mail them to you. It'll cost you, but still. There's a lot of places you can get them. igtm.com and greekgiftsetc.com are two that i've recommended in other threads for greek items, but since you're buying in bulk I don't know.

Good luck!

Hey,
We used www.uniqueonline.com for our rush shirts last spring and they are very flexible we had them in a week and a half and that was without express delivery. They may take longer because they have to be stitched but it’s worth a try their number is on their sight. They are based out of the University of Delaware if you feel like a road trip to go get them. If you can’t get embroidered letters what about screen printing them on a shirt. ZBT did that last year; it may not look at nice but if you need them that soon it may be all you can do unless your sisters can sow. Good luck, oh and what colony are you? I have a few friends at Duquesne.

there used to be a place near Duquesne University, where they'd buy Greek stuff. It used to be near the pizza joint (formerly known as Corleone's). Instead of turning left to the pizzeria, you'd turn right to the Greek shop (that's if you walked down from Duquesne, passing the AJ Palumbo center straight down). Maybe, its gone too.

Don't know if this makes sense, but hope it helps.

100 years ago @ CMU
we used somebody called the Jacket Man who would come to our house for orders.

There used to be a big Greek store above (I think) Avalon, but it's long gone which I find depressing.

Do you guys have a chapter at W & J? Try road tripping down there. Or IUP - that's where we always got letters because our selection sucked.

IUP has a Greek Store right in Indiana at "Campus Corner". Im not sure how long it would take, but they do a great job.
