Starting an online sorority!

Hey guys! I'm starting an online sorority and need two more founders. Feel free to ask me any questions. I want to get started SOON!

Thanks,
Miss Gamma Alpha Rho

I'd like more details, please. Can you PM me? I'm just concerned about the time commitment you and other women would be making for this - I tried to found an online co ed Greek organisation and I just didn't have time for it on top of two jobs, school and a relationship, however my schedule is easing up. I would be willing to help you however, as I know what it feels like to want to start something that you believe in when no one else seems to bat and eye.

Also, it's interesting that the letters spell rap. Is there a particular reason you choose these letters?

You do realize that you are posting on a site with the majority members of established orgs and/or people seeking membership in more traditional "brick and mortar" organizations. We don't have any advice to share. We don't have experience in setting up virtual orgs. Maybe there is another site that would better serve you.

I'll try to offer some advice. Read: I've never been in an online/virtual sorority, but AM active in an online chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and have a pretty good handle on how we operate in terms of an active online organizational presence for example.

Like any other organization, set your purpose, goals and what you'd like to see go on in your organization. How will you meet? Who will do what and for what period of time? How will decisions necessary to the functioning of your organization be determined and by whom and when?

There are other online sororities out there, and some seem to have been active for several years or more. Google is your friend with checking available information about them out to get a rough idea about structure.

There are a lot of questions and a lot of work ahead for you, but I'm sure that you can do it.

I expect you should go post this on greekrank.

This thread is an excellent example of how not to do it!
This one too.

Huh??? I must be missing something.

Gamma Alpha Rho would "spell" GAP in English letters, not "rap".

But in Greek letters it would sort of look like r a p

We should have printed out and sent those threads to the Senate Democrats to read when they were doing the filibuster.

I've had a number of people think my lettered baseball cap says ROB. I know other Gamma Phis who have had the same experience.

Interesting. What are your goals?

One of my greatest sorority experiences has been deep and long-lasting bonds with women I first met over 40 years ago. I wonder what your vision is for forming deep bonds with strangers on the internet.

I'm also interested in why two more. Is the number of founders (whom you've recruited) central to your sorority?
