More good news to share!

Hi Sisters!

Just wanted to share some happy news with you. Most of you know that I've been working pretty hard lately and trying to climb up the ladder.

I found out yesterday that I have been offered a spot in the executive internship program that I originally applied for last year!!! :D Its a prestigious program and a huge honor to be asked to participate.

What's even better, is that my boss has officially recommended me for a promotion in my present job...and they are completing the paperwork for that as we speak!

So, I am in the position of having to decide whether I want the promotion or the internship. I have until Monday to decide what I want to do. I'm a little freaked out because the decisions came down with no warning, but I keep telling myself: "This is a happy predicament, you can't go wrong either way!" LOL

So, does anyone have thoughts or advice that they would like to share with me?

so what do you do (job wise) now? both sound great. and both would look great on a resume. guess it's up to you. i know that doesn't help but hey... good luck with the decision, and let us know.

CONGRATS

What happens when you finish the internship? Are you guaranteed a permanent job?

How well do you like your co-workers?

Is your current boss going to be leaving anytime soon? If you think someone knew is coming in, that might affect how the future may look in your current dept.

Congrats!

(Rem that job we talked about? lol);)

LiEP,
Lynn

Well, Marissa, in answer to your question, I have a whole long description of what I do in the thread "Careers of our Alpha Gams." I'm too lazy to retype it all out, LOL, but basically I do human resource work.

Lynn, at the end of the 2 years, I am not *guaranteed* a job. However, if they've put 2 years of training and $$$ into you, they will find you something. I've been told that some important people are retiring in the near future, and they think that I have the qualifications and potential to move up quickly.

I don't think that my current boss will be leaving her position anytime soon. More likely, she will retire in a few years. But, I also love my co-workers.

I'm quite happy where I am, but at the same time, I don't know if I want to look back 10 years from now and say, "What if I had joined the program?"

Decisions, decisions. :(

Congrats! Many Red and Buff roses to you!!;)

I guess this is a greedy way of looking at things but I would look into the future and say..."Would I advance in pay and position quicker and more substantionally if I do the internship? or is it just a resume stuffer?"

You may love the quick promotion but I would way out what you could get if you waited and did the internship....I know nothing on what you do at your job, but either way it sounds as if you would move up quickly. So I dont think you have a prob either way!

Good luck!!

Congratulations Maria! :D

I say go for the internship. Even though I know you'd love either one, I have a slight feeling that you want the internship just a lilllll bit more, LOL. Could be off though, but thats my gut. You're more than qualified so either way I know you'll end up with a job you love. Good Luck! ;)

Girls, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your good thoughts and wishes!

Thought I should share with you that I decided to go with the Internship Program. :)

My boss and co-workers were sorry to hear the news and tried to talk me out of my decision (its nice to know that I am wanted), but they also know its a great opportunity and they wish me well.

I start the program on September 9th. I almost feel like I'm going back to school again! ;)
