tongue ring ISSUES, need advice
 

ok, i know it must just be me.

i had my tongue pierced over a year ago and have wanted to change the barbell for quite some time due to fear of tooth chippin, mommy bitching, etc...(hey, that kinda rhymed)

anyways, i finally got the guts (believe it or not the thought of messing around with my tongue made me lightheaded) to change it to a 3/4" barbell with a flat bottom acrylic top. the second day it kept coming off when i was eating and while it eating subway i crunched down on something. it was not bread.

boo.

so then i buy another one that is 1/2", flat bottom acrylic on both ends and notice that the top keeps coming off when i chew. i lost the top while eating cheesecake.

let's not talk about what went down with the little plastic retainer thing.

WHAT'S THE DEAL? am i not screwing it in tight enough? should i go to a professional piercer and have them change it? i'm just annoyed because i've spent so much $$.

I had mine pierced just to see what it felt like and the kind of advantages people say you have when with a girl.

Anyhow i left it in for 2 weeks and I had the same problem. Only I wasn't eating regular food, I was eating jello and the like. I'd say take it to a professional piercer and let them fix it. All they'll probably do is take a pair of pliers and screw it on very tight.

Be very careful with your ring in. Don't do stupid crap with it. My tongue swelled like fat cow because I was being a naughty little boy with a lady friend. I woke up one morning and I couldn't talk so well. I freaked out and went to the doctor. He asked me if I was using enough mouthwash and i was like "yea". He was trying to see if i was allergic to the metal or something. Then he got on the subject of kissing other people and 'other things', I didn't want to lie to him incase it could seriously mess me up so I told him what I had done a few nights before. He started laughing his ass off and was like, " Thats your problem there, you cant do stuff like that for awhile until it heals properly." Keep in mind though, this doctor lives next to my parents and has known me for a LONG time. Anyhow--don't do anything stupid where you will end up like me.

In my three years with my tongue ring, I have swallowed probably $300 worth of tongue rings...sounds gross but it happens to the best of us:)

My advice would be to go to a pro and get one that is of higher quality. The ones from Hot Topic and Pacific Sunwear are cheaply madeand last about 3 months.

Also, it may be you're not screwing it tight enough. Make sure it is on really, really tight. Because you're tongue it constantly moving whn you talk or eat, it loosens the ball.
