crappy rooms--query for tv show
I'm a researcher for Inside Edition (the TV show) working on a piece about college students who've had to live in really really crappy on-campus housing. We're looking either for very small rooms (one girl lived in a bicycle closet) or spaces that are otherwise inappropriate (eg. living in a gym for 2 months). The worse the better.
Anyone have any stories? We're particularly interested if you have pictures. I can be emailed (this should be in the post) at amindlin@kingworld.com, and my # is (212) 817-5530. Thanks very much, Alex Mindlin |
The university that I attended did not have student housing so myself and two of my friends rented a three bedroom house for six months. Total nightmare! This house should be condemned. The house itself was tilted. If you went into the basement you would think that the floor above you was going to come tumbling down upon you. You couldn't store anything in the basement because it had a small flooding problem. In the kitchen we had fly strips hanging from the ceiling because flys were quite a problem. In the living room you couldn't sit on the floor because previous tenants had spilled so much that it left marks on your clothing...we eventually ripped the carpet up. The bathroom floor was practically rotted out because the toliet had overflowed too many times...which was right above the kitchen so you can only imagine what the ceiling in the kitchen looks like. If you sat on the toliet in the bathroom you would be leaning to one side. We had a severe mouse problem. When we moved out we had to throw away several items that belonged to us because the mice had chewed holes in our belongings. In one bedroom the ceiling was poorly patched and I bet if you poked a hole in it you could probably see the sky. Most of our windows did not have screens in them and the previous tenants had used 40 oz. beer bottles to hold the windows open since they would not stay open on their own.
