The Bottom Line: SORORITY LIFE...
"barbie slut pledges vs. stuffy bitch actives"...
Sigma's rules are based on what has been considered acceptable to the past sisters and pledges of the sorority. When they're used to having girls with similar interests to them come out to rush, and then suddenly when MTV shows up and they get women totally on the other end of the spectrum, there needs to be rules set to maintain the image of SigmaAEPi that the women that founded it desired to portray. Every sorority has the right to only accept members that they think will fit the ideals of their house. I honestly think some of the house pledges would have been better off to go through Panhellenic Recruitment and find a house with women that had more in common with them. Their blatant disregard for the house rules is embarassing and reflects poorly on their judgement, and on the sorority itself. It appears most of the time that they care less about the sisterhood and image of the sorority they are pledging than their next beer or screwdriver. However, what they do on their own time, outside of Sigma functions should not be something the active sisters are able to regulate, and the pledgemasters confronting the girls for what they choose to do on their own time is both wrong and rude. Sigma shouldn't have to change their ideals for every pledge class, and the pledges shouldn't have to change who they are to be acceptable to their sorority. The bottom line is that the "house pledges" and Sigma aren't a good fit for each other. |
Any sorority would get some dirt dug up if it went through the MTV
process. I think the tone of your post is a bit over-the-top. It looks like, for example, Candace makes it though. Even if it's true she never would have been there if it weren't for MTV, she seems to have had a positive experience and found the Sigma sisterhood to her liking. Would you take that away from her? |
All of these 1001 threads about Sorority Life. Someone PLEASE make it stop! We need a FORUM for THIS alone! LOL!

Basically MTV did it all because they knew the drama that would occur. I think even they probably were surprised by everything that happened. Well, they sure got what they wanted, a drama induced show that everyone watches and comments about. And Sigma got what they wanted which was the 15 minutes of fame.

Every house has pledges that go through that don't feel "right" for the sorority once they're pledged. Some of them DP, and some of them make it through and become pivotal members of the sisterhood. It just irked me how the Sigmas were constantly having to worry about the pledge's behaviour, and the Pledges were constantly dogging on the Sigma's activities. It's like DAMN, if PNM's and sororities themselves were a little more choosy and observant during rush then that shit wouldn't happen. Just sayin. |
Join or do not join! That Be The Question!
It is up to the individual! I am a Proud member of LXA and AXO! Do what the hell you want to do but look and see where you are going!;) :) |
I hate to say it but it took MTV long enough in this reality television trend to think of filming 30 women trying to get along. Come on, how much drama do you get w/ 30+ women in one org. It is good tv. look at us, we're addicted to the drama. it's pathetic. oh well it's almost over (right?)

My take on it...
You don't like a thread, don't read it. It was obvious what it was about by the subject. |

It doesn't matter if we read the THREAD or not, we are forced to see the title when we come to Greek Life. The issue is not that what you said had no merit, it's that your post could have fallen under the multitudes of threads already dedicated to this topic. I think some people are just tired of seeing every other thread about Sorority Life. It grows kinda tiresome. |
I CANT WAIT TILL THIS SHOW'S SEASON IS OVER!
