Tulane students fire back at Kappa Alpha Orders pro-Trump wall
By Oona Goodin-Smith, Oakland University 9:00 am EDT April 13, 2016
A wall of sandbags constructed last Thursday and emblazoned with pro-Trump slogans, built by the Kappa Alpha Order chapter at Tulane University in front of its house, was dismantled on Tuesday. The rhetoric was a joke, the fraternity says, but many aren’t laughing. See article: http://college.usatoday.com/2016/04/...ro-trump-wall/ |
Quote from the article.
"According to a statement emailed from the campus’ chapter to USA TODAY College, the premise of the wall, built Thursday as part of the New Orleans school fraternity’s yearly tradition to have pledges erect a barrier." My organization would consider this hazing. Reason is we can not deviate from our 6 weeks Associate Member program, erecting walls is not in our program and is not related to any of our principles or values. Any deviations or additional "tasks" within our new member program needs approval from HQ. |
I don't think my organization would consider this hazing, although, considering the predictable response of the sniveling "safe space" set, one might argue it's a public display in poor taste... Your mileage may vary from group to group as to what constitutes hazing though.

I firmly believe that Newtons Third Law is in play with the rise of Trump 2016. People can can create their safe spaces, check their privileges and micro aggressions all day long but others sick of those things will rally behind someone like him.

I'll say what I always say...
If you have to tell people something was satire, it isn't very good satire. We can all think of groups from our campus (Greek or non) that if they had done this we would have peed our pants laughing because the satire would be so obvious. |
