tips anyone?
 

i am rushing this fall and am super nervous! i want to make a good impression.... what are some good things to talk about? should i bring up that almost my whole family is greek? please help me

Yes, def mention how your whole family has been involved with Greek orgs but don't mention which ones or they might think you have preference. Just be yourself. Dress nice and neat and always have a smile on your face. Think about if you were already an active sister, what kind of person would you want to be in your sorority and then take it from there. you can talk about your major, your hometown, your roommate, whatever you want. Usually the sisters always ask first. There a lot of things that can go wrong and if you look at one of the threads (reasons why you got cut) there are some examples of what you can try to avoid. If you get cut, don't feel bad. The people who do choose you, and there will be plenty who will, will be the one for you because not only did you choose them they chose you back. Just relax and have a great time. Rush can be really fun!

i think phisigsigchick totally hit the nail on the head when she said to think if you were an active, what kind of person would you want to be in the sorority...totally great advice!

my other word of advice is don't necessairly listen to the girls on your hall, your roomate, or your rush group when deciding who to to go back to. every campus has their own stereotypes of each house, however, i think they are about 90% false most of the time. So relax, enjoy, it's your time to shine!

i go to oregon state... the chapters we have are:
alpha chi omega
alpha gamma delta
alpha xi delta (unhoused)
alpha phi
delta delta delta
delta gamma
kappa kappa gamma
kappa alpha theta
kappa delta
pi beta phi
sigma kappa
chi omega
and a few others that are more clubs than anything else, as they dont have houses and dont rush at the normal time and are more exclusive..... like sigma alpha (ag.), alpha kappa alpha (african american) and such...

Hello, fellow rushee! Seems to be a lot of us lurking around here... :) Here's a thread I found VERY helpful when I first came to GC, and I spent days reading it. A lot of the stories are WAY out there, but there are a few that I was like, "Oh... that's bad? Mental note." Kinda gives you an idea of some of the things you definately SHOULDN'T do during rush. Good luck with rush! Can't wait to hear everyone's stories and post my own! :D
