Motivation to work out...yucky...

I am looking for a workout to do...I really think I want the Winsor Pilates tapes...anyone use these? The commercial makes it look fun.

I also would like to know of some website or something that will have sort of a workout program to follow, as I have little motivation, and even less of a clue of what I should be doing! Oh yeah, and it has to be free.

Well, I know my sister sits in front of the TV with a glas of wine watching the guys on her buns of steel tape...so I wouldnt recommend that.

HAHA....that's hilarious! Call me crazy but I still loooove the Tae Bo tapes. As far as the motivation to get to the gym...good luck, I'm still trying to figure that one out!

If you are hell bent on using workout tapes, I recommend the "Crunch" series or Reebok's tapes. But, I personally attend step class every day, plus I use the elliptical trainer or treadmill for 45-60 minutes. Make sure you add strength training. More muscle = more calories burned by the body at all times.

I have the Winsor Pilates tapes, and I really enjoy them. But remember, woman cannot shape up on Pilates alone. I like to do Pilates on the same day I do my cardio workouts, or if I'm doing a longer workout, I'll do 2 days of cardio, 1 day all weights, 1 day aerobic weight training, and 1 day of Pilates. I also recommend the Jennifer Kries Pilates Method videos, you can find them at Best Buy: 3-D Toning, Precision Pilates, and The Perfect Mix.

As for a workout program, there are many suggestions at Video Fitness on the discussion boards, as well as Fit Prime and the Firm Ya-Yas board at ezboard. Not all of them solely incorporate videos. You can substitute a run, elliptical trainer, etc for the cardio days. All of the boards are free.

Videos: You can't beat the Firm tapes. The Firm has been around since 1986 and is known for innovative workouts incorporating aerobics and weights in the same workout. You can check them out at Collage Video in addition to checking the sites I already mentioned. PM me if you want to know more, I've learned quite a bit about fitness videos!

My [biological] sister uses those and *swears* by them!

edited to include: If you want "free" workout videos.. you might want to try kazaa media network.. it's kinda like napster, but you can download audio, videos and even software. It takes forever for stuff to download sometime, but if it's worth the "free" part, go for it :p
p.s. don't forget to virus-scan after downloads!

You guys are making me feel like a lazy slug! Step and the elliptical trainer in one day? When do ya'll have time for this?

I suppose it depends on your style of motivation, but while I have tapes I don't use them much. I need the pressure of a class to make me show up and do it and not to get lazy and slack. (Or the pressure of doing something like hiking with friends. I don't want to be the one slowing everyone up!)

Well the motivation part is easy for me...I keep a Victoria's Secret catalogue in my room and any day I feel lazy I look through that...I swear, seeing those skinny models with flat abs will get you to the gym faster than anything in the world haha!! I take a kickboxing class 4 days a week and it is the most awesome workout in the world. Muscles you didn't even know you had are sore the next day. You have to find something that you enjoy and that is fun for you, otherwise you'll find excuses not to go. As far as a website, umm...runnersworld.com (I think that is it) has workout schedules on it that range from beginners who haven't exercised in years, to marathon runners. It has some good advise on it...I would recommend that. Good luck!!
