Laptops

I'm pretty set on getting a laptop. Can I get some pros and cons and some suggestions on which one I should get?

Mine is Dell Latitude, and supposedly to be the best laptop out there (according to Iowa State College of Design!). So far, I never have problem with my unit.

I have the Dell Inspiron 4000, I like it. I need to increase the hard drive I only have 10GB. I lost one of my alt keys, doesn anyone know how you can replace it, or where to buy an alt key for a dell laptop.

Pro - easy to pack when you move...

Con - easy to steal

I have a Sony VAIO - I love it, never had any problems. Sony laptops are very solid, I'd say look at Dell as well - when I used to sell them, these are the two brands who had the fewest problems and best reputations. Also, Sager makes great laptops, but they're smaller and decidedly business-oriented.

DO NOT buy ANYTHING that says Compaq on it - also stay away from HP computers (although for peripherals, go for it).

I got my laptop last week-- it's great. It's a Dell Inspiron 8200. I also have a Toshiba laptop...I'd suggest staying away from those cause they typically have problems with their screens...(as I had the misfortune of experiencing)

AlphaGam1019,
I've had a Toshiba for 3 years and I have not had one problem with the laptop, let alone the screen. What problems do Toshiba's typically have?

Dell and costs?

How much are Dell laptops costing these days? A while ago, I saw these commercials that were advertising a certain type of laptop for around $900.

Check out refurbished laptops from the manufacturers if you're on a budget.
I have a perfectly good Micron desktop with all the fun bells and whistles, but I last week purchased a laptop- really wanted to have one for law school. I bought a refurbished Dell Inspiron 2600 1.2 gHz, 20 gig harddrive, etc. for about $947... you can get the full warranty with refurbished and it saves you some money.
Hasn't been delivered yet, but when it is i'll post how i like it:)
