Question about 21st B-day celebration
What do you do for your 21st b-day when you have a few friends who are under 21 and can't hit the bar with you? Do you go to an 18 and up club instead of hitting the bars? Do you throw a party somewhere?

I personally am having a big house party... My cousin's boyfriend is a bartender, and told me that he will bartend for me and my friends.
I donno if you have anyone that you know that's a bartender, or even really good at making drinks... But that's a way to help out the under-aged friends... (hey, we've all been there!!!) Or if for some reason the party doesn't work out... Then I'm heading out to a 21 and over club. (most of my friends are older, but if they were younger, I'd go to an 18 and over) Fraternally, Beth |
That's about the only problem with being in a sorority. You're always going to have friends that are too young to hit the bars with you.
What we'd do is have dinner at a restaurant that serves alocohol. Mainly TGIFridays. Everyone can celbrate. Then all the 21+ can hit the clubs afterward. |
Think that's tough- I'm moving to florida a week before I turn 21. If I live in the freshman dorm I won't have anyone to go out with and I won't know anyone to do anything with anyway.

This is what I did:
My 21st fell on a Sunday. That Friday night, I went to a local restaurant that serves really good drinks. Had all my friends come with me including those who are underage. One of the waitresses is in my chapter so she served me (although I was one day away from my 21st :) ). That Saturday night, my friends and I who were of legal age all went downtown to the 21 and up spots. The bouncers didn't give me a hard time luckily. It was 11pm and I was going to be officially 21 in an hour so they didn't make a big deal out of it. |
A few of my sorority sisters and I have birthdays in February. My birthday fell on a Tuesday, but I had bronchitis that day :( so I had to wait to celebrate until the weekend. My pledge class sister who had graduated the previous May returned for that weekend. A bunch of us went out that Friday night including a sister whose birthday wasn't until Saturday. The local bar wouldn't let her in because she still wasn't legal. We went to another bar until she turned 21. Most of my friends were not yet 21 so they couldn't join us, but it was fun anyway.

Well, when I'm 21 most of the guys in my house will also be 21. So I have two words on how I'm going to celebrate it:
CRAZY HORSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
I'm scared for my 21st.....I don't want to know what's going to happen to me that night, but it will definately involve all the bars in the area with my sisters and other friends:p

My 21st was a Monday (beginning of finals week no less) and one of my grand-littles was the previous Friday (she was turning 20). So Friday the Family Tree plus a few others went to TGIFridays and had a nice sober dinner. The two Bigs that were there bought myself and the grandlittle our dinners which was really sweet. Monday night my boy was in town and two sisters who didn't have finals the next day took me out to the bar. It was a really low key birthday since it was finals week but nice even so.

I agree with posters talking about going to dinner prior to the bars. Back in college, we always went to Chevys to get Margaritas because everyone could go regardless of age. If your underage friends are feeling REALLY nice, the may even drop you off/pick you up on your night out!

There's a bar in Boston that's next door to a club - same owners, I think. You have to be 21+ to go into the bar, but the club's age limits vary by night (sometimes 21+, sometimes 19+, maybe 18+). There's a door connecting the bar directly to the club, and if you're 21+ you can go freely from one to the other. Something like this would be a great option as long as all your friends are old enough to get into the club, but I don't think that type of setup is very common.
I also like the dinner-followed-by-bar idea - I did something like that for my 21st. |
