Formal Recruitment Q

Panhellenic Formal Recruitment question for those who know the rules: Can a school decide to change the number of rounds without the consent of the members of the PHC or does the PHC have to vote on these changes?

The school as in the Greek advisor or the school as in the president? Also what is the reason given for the change?

Was it to come in alignment with NPC recommendations?

The school as in the Greek Life Director. He stated the move to reduce the number of parties would make recruitment "values based". The question is, does the GL Director have the authority to make that kind of change without a vote from the Panhellenic sororities on campus. Background: number of PNMs is steadily increasing over the past 5 years, retention is high, quota and total are maintained by almost all organizations. The reduction of a day of parties was very difficult and it left a lot of PNMs released compared to previous years. Parties previously went 9-7-5-2 and was changed to 9-6-2.

I don't have the latest MOI (Green Book) so it's hard to say what the NPC recommendation is now. How many chapters do you have on campus? Would seem that 9-6-3 is the correct party numbers. If you have concerns, your chapter president should contact your national NPC delegate and the NPC Collegiate Area Adviser so they can talk with your Greek Life Director.

My gut feeling is that no, a GL director does not have the authority to change rounds, but I don't really know.
Yes, contact (right now!) your NPC Area Adviser for help! I believe those are on the NPC website.

That's your problem right there. (Also someone who is enough of a weenie to actually use "values based" in conversation. ) If exorbitant amounts aren't being spent, if it doesn't affect classes, and 9-7-5-2 works better for your particular campus, I don't see the problem.

Contact your NPC area advisor and make sure to have figures showing the drop in women pledged.

I could not agree with you more!

This situation is from my alma matr. While I used to function in advisor role, I've since left. This issue was recently surfaced by another advisor and what information I have received is second hand. From what I have been told, the campus is reeling and the women are angry. It seems that it is only now, after recruitment is over, that they are realizing that they should have had a say or a vote on this change.

Recruitment is held during the days in between winter term and spring. 9-7-5-2 always had worked and placement was very high.

NPC often uses this phrase in its documents and presentations. How dare he use the phrase when dealing with NPC women?
