Marquette Bid Day - 1/31/16
 

Good Morning!

I realize that Marquette may not be a Greek Powerhouse, but for those of us who have daughters participating in recruitment, today will be an exciting day.

My daughter, went through recruitment last year and happily received a bid from AXO. This year she is on the Marquette NPC Recruitment Committee and is seeing recruitment from the other side.

I spoke to her this morning and she is exhausted. She is happy as she feels that they put on a great recruitment.

I will send info as it is posted during the day.

There are six sororities at Marquette.

Alpha Chi Omega
Alpha Xi Delta
Alpha Phi
Kappa Delta
Sigma Kappa
Pi Beta Phi

Last year the NM classes were around 62, and this was before Kappa Delta colonized in the Spring last year.

The number of women returning to pref night was about 330. Almost all of them received bids.

Would love to hear more.

Does Marquette not have Fall Rush?

This is their big, formal rush (otherwise known as deferred recruitment).

I'm glad to hear the sororities are thriving at Marquette. We had a chapter there that only lasted for a couple years back in the mid-nineties. Do you think they'll open back up again soon?

My daughter's school has January recruitment, too. I'm visitiing this weekend and the social scene seems to be revolving around potential big sisters courting potential little sisters. She and her little share an apartment, and both of her "grand littles" have stopped by with new members they're chumming up with.

Not much to update yet. They are in the throes of Bid Day and there are very few photos up yet.

Sciencewoman - I was aware that GPhiB was on Marquette in the 80's and was hoping that they would be chosen to colonize last year. Both GPhiB and KD presented. KD was chosen. I was a little bummed as my mom was a GPhiB at Michigan. My daughter, on the other hand was glad that KD was chosen as she did not want to go through Recruitment as a legacy (I am a DG).

I am out to go car shopping and will be MIA for several hours.
