should I rush????????
Hey, I have a question. Should I rush more than one fraternity. I mean, common sense would dictate yeah, as would popular opion. But there is one I feel like I really connect with. EVeryone says "whats up hows it going good to see you etc." when I go there, as oppesed to "why is there another guy at our house" that I get at most houses. Should I rush just there, or lots of places. People there come up to me and point at pledges and say things like "that's you in the fall" or "are you ready for that?" so should I rush more than one house, or would that offend the brothers of that house. I have friends in that house I usdfed to work with, and my suite mate is a pledge and I've gotten to know a lot of brothers there, and I really can't see myself anywhere else. What should I do???

I would say look around at other houses, cause you've really got nothing to lose by going around. You might find another house that fits you even better, and if you don't, then you could just go to the first house you thought about.

Hi Billy Optimist!!
I'm sorry I don't really ahve any advice for you, as I haven't even gone through Rush yet! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif but I just wanted to wish you the best of luck, I hope you will be happy at whichever fraternity you end up at!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif |
Billy me lad, either rush or don't rush! You are talking on these sites a lot but while I enjoy you conversation, you need to get in a group If that is what you so desire.
You wil know if and when you find the right organization to belong to as it feels right to not only them but you!!! ------------------ Tom Earp LX Z#1 Pittsburg State U. (Kansas) |
Thanks Newbie! Good luck to you to.
Tom, I think you misunderstood, or maybe I wrote it funny. I am DEFINTLY rushing, but I don't know if I should rush only one house or not. I feel like I really fit in there, and I kind of get a feeling they do too. So my question was should I go to more than one house's rush, even though I get a feeling I fit in. I mean, I was introduced to a lot of brothers there last night that I hadn't met before. Also, a few introduced me to girls there. That doesn't happen too much because the brothers at most houses feel that "oh great, more guys here" and its extra comptetetion. But I think will heed the advice everyone gave me and go to at least two or three rushes. Hope that cleared things up. [This message has been edited by Billy Optimist (edited March 31, 2001).] |
Thanks Billy Optimist!!
Always stay the Optimist you are http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif and you will be sure to get the house that you want!! Keep us posted, ok?! |
Thanks Newbie! I will defintely keep you guys posted. You too, okay? Hey, do you know which college you are going to yet?

remember, there are never any guarantees until you have a bid in your hand, even if the guys in your favorite house really seem to like you. in some houses, all it takes is one brother saying he doesn't want you in, and you won't have a bid. in others, it takes only three brothers to keep someone out. if one guy thinks something bad that's not even true, that can be all it takes. i'd play it safe and keep rushing a few other houses, unless you know you'd never want to join those places. good luck with your favorite house, though.
about offending your favorite house by continuing to rush others... i can't be sure (i'm in a sorority, not a frat), but i would think that would make them work even harder to impress you. if they know you're not a sure thing, it's even more of a "victory" for them when you take their bid later. it's kind of like stealing a cool guy away from their competitors. however, if a guy asks you where you want to pledge, you can tell the truth that they're your top choice. Hi Billy!!
I hope that ChiOSweetie did not offend you. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif you are one of the sweetest GreekChatters I have met!!!! We all love you here on GC http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Nope, I don't know which college I will attend yet, because I am only a Junior. I guess I might be overprepared, hehe! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif I am thinking of the UC System or USC, however. Where do you go to school? P.S. BTW, stay the same nice person you are! I saw your other thread, "Not so Nice," and I think it is so much better to be the real, likeable you, then put up a fake facade. Ppl can always see thru a facade! (i.e., ChiOSweetie...) http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Plus, if they don't like you for you, they don't deserve you!!! Oh I thought it was about the fraternity, and how you don't want to be seen as a nice guy@ ! Oh well http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif What kinda stuff do you like to act? I acted a bit earlier in HS but stopped, b/c IMO it was too grueling! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Newbie http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I like to act in all kind of things. I want to be in serious movies though. Or maybe the badguy on soap operas. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Or I could be like the crazy neighbor type on a sitcom.
Hey, we seem to be online at the same time. IM BillyF3 on AIM to chat. [This message has been edited by Billy Optimist (edited April 02, 2001).] |
Hi Newbie!!
Thanks. She didn't make me mad. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Um..About the other post, my question was more of how to be less of a "buddy type" to girls than to put on a false front. BUT I am in training to be an actor, so my false front would work. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif At least it better work, otherwise I'd be out of a job. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif |
