Coming out/Probate shows
Has anyone ever attended or participated in a coming out show on the alumnae level? If so, what was that like?
|
I'm not a member of any greek org., but I have NEVER seen a probate show on the alumnae level, and I would assume that's because alumnae members are not necessarily in college. You have to keep in mind that many people who join a greek org. at the alumnae level may be well out of college, and into their careers. You have people of various ages... 30's, 40's, 50's, etc.. joining on the alumnae level.
I would assume that probate shows are for those who join on the collegiate level (I could be wrong  ) As I stated, these are assumptions, and if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will have no problem correcting me. ;) |

Probate and coming out are usually reserved for undergraduates. Alumnea chapter members don't really participate in these activities. Probates/coming out shows are a way that an orangization presents their new members to the greek/school community..like a welcoming. just my $.13 |
I do know of alumnae chapters who have had coming out shows. Why do you want to know?

Because I did not know that some of those activities still transpired on the alumnae level. I attended an alumnae step show a few months ago where all of the NPHC organizations participated in -it was nice! Everyone did a good job, however, when your Delta sorors stepped they rocked. They marched out locked up, in all black, boots, and hats with your sorority's symbols on it. After they got into formation, another member came to mic and announced "Now the show may begin". Everybody went wild!!! These women stepped hard... so much, that an older woman yelled "I taught them right"! After they finished the member at the mic then said "You have now seen 'Real Stepping' ":D They then did a stroll off the song by Cheryl Lynn entitled "To be real", and did damage. It was so many of them strolling that they circled the auditorium. Even the guys were bobbing their heads, after that they marched off... that's alright.:) |
