Formal rush for men
I hear some references of formal rush for men
and was curious exactly what this entailed. For example, do schools with deferred rush do formal rush for men also? What rules do you follow, do you gear it towards first semester freshmen (even with deferred rush), do you do bid matching . . .etc. I am sorry the question is general but with the answers I get I can narrow my questioning down. Thanks. |
Hey, I wanted to bring this back up to the top . . . any men want to speak about their colleges formal Rush process?

James many of the colleges have different rules on rushing. Some cannot be 1 st year Frosh or cannot live in the house or whatever. Usually at Pittsburg State U. everyone does a Fall rush and I got on my Brothers to do a Spring rush. Get the men who you would like to be your Brothers anytime and anywhere! THe only wahy to grow is promigate or you die! I always love for someone to say well it is a unique situation. Hell everything is unique!!!!!

At Rose-Hulman, rush is for first quarter freshmen, and it lasts almost the entire first quarter. It's dry, and you can't talk about other fraternities at all, except to say that they exist, and that the freshmen should check them all out. Both rules have advantages and disadvantages, but I think the advantages outweigh here. For non-freshmen and freshman that didn't join on bid day, there are NO rush rules. They can be bid any time after a 2 week no contact period directly following rush their freshman year. There is no bid matching. One guy could get 8 bids, and he has to choose which one he wants on the spot. Of course he has 8 weeks to decide, and very seldom does a guy get more than 2 or 3. Usually by the end of our 7-8 week rush, the freshmen have narrowed it down to 1 or 2. Last year, we bid 34 guys. One didn't recieve his bid card for some bizarre reason, and we took 17. Of the other 16, I'd say 9 joined other houses, and 7 didn't join any. We're working on them now http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
