Student Loans

Woo hoo... I only have $5,238.66 left to pay on my student loan!!!!!

Peaches-n-Cream 07-26-2002 12:05 PM

WOW! I didn't even borrow that much. I went to a state school. :D My sister goes to private school and borrows more money in one year than I did in four. :(

AOX81 07-26-2002 12:30 PM

I went to a commuter college and my loan was for only TWO semesters!!

Unfortunately my husband has a greater debt than I do  He went to a private university which cost about FOUR times as much as mine did for ONE semester!!

localsororities, where did you go to school?!?

http://www.plauder-smilies.de/eek2.gif Oh my. I guess I'm lucky. I never realized that you could borrow that much money for college.

I've got about $7,500 left to go.

My parents paid the in-state tuition for me for my B.A. Then, my brilliant self decided I needed to do a technical school program. This time I was on my own... So I've been introduced to the wonderfull world of loans. That's okay though. There's lots of us in the same boat.

how depressing.
I've been out of school for 11 years and I still owe:

$27,000!

:(

Eirene_DGP 07-26-2002 02:00 PM

I owe about $18,000 so far (this is my senior year), but I am going to teach in a critical needs area when I graduate so I don't have to pay them back. :D If anyone is even remotely interested in teaching, that is a wonderful option so you can start out almost debt free.

Beginning balance was about $45K. Which I don't consider too bad, when all totalled, my years at USC cost about $120K

Steeltrap, where are you? You can back me up on this, I know you can! :)

Is that just undergrad? Tell me that included grad school. I am shocked at these numbers.

Just undergrad for 4 1/2 years.

Get this: A friend of mine who TRANSFERRED to NYU, and was only there for 3 years, now owes close to 100,000 in loans!!!!! Now that's craziness right there!

Peaches-n-Cream 07-26-2002 02:45 PM

My sister goes to NYU as a transfer. I'm afraid that she will spend the next decade paying off student loans.

Honeykiss1974 07-26-2002 04:16 PM

I have student loans too (undergrad and grad) :(
Mine are...ummm let's just say that I attended undergrad OUT-OF STATE which is what was the most expensive for me! :(

This is why I truly believe that higher education should be FREE!!
