Delta Sigma Thetas--IMPRESSIVE!

Hello Delta Sigma Theta ladies. I hope you won't mind my posting here (if you do, I will understand if you delete my thread).

I work at CNN Center in Atlanta, Georgia and for the past week I have enjoyed meeting many of your sisters. They have been attending a convention at the nearby Georgia World Congress Center/Phillips Arena (attached to CNN Center).

I want to say how impressed I've been with your organization. Each woman I have met from your sisterhood has been so sweet and darling. Each day the ladies were decked out in their finest crimson and I was somewhat envious of them all!

Many of my co-workers remarked on the lovely ladies of Delta Sigma Theta. Cheers to you!

Thanks for the compliment!! I was in CNN Center a lot during my stay, Had I known, I would have come by and said hello and tried to get something free. :o

I love to see my sorors all decked out in their crimson and cream finery. I love it, especially to see the older sorors getting down as they strut their stuff.

For the sorors I met from GC, it was definitely a pleasure. For those who time did not allow, I hope you still had a great time even though it was diminished by not meeting me. :p I cannot wait until 2004.

Wonderful 1st

Atlanta was my very first convention, not only did it affirm my love for this sisterhood but my dedication to being an active Soror for the rest of my life. I can't wait for Las Vegas!

For all the Sorors who stayed in the Hilton, thank you for those late night chats at Cafe Express, I have learned so much from you in so short a time!

Las Vegas '04! :D

It was my first as well. Even though I worked through a good bit of it, I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED myself and I especially enjoyed having my dear Sorors (CT4 in particular ;)) come visit.

For those who attended the Welcome Event Friday night, you've seen me. I was one of two Sorors representing the Central Region during the Spirit of Sisterhood/Light Show. I have short hair & was on your right.

Sorors, I have more accolades. This was forwarded to me from another list. It comes from the July 24th edition of the Congressional Record.

COMMEMORATING DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY, INC. -- (House of Representatives - July 24, 2002)
[Page: H5318] GPO's PDF
---

(Mrs. JONES of Ohio asked and was given permission to address the House for 1 minute and to revise and extend her remarks.)

Mrs. JONES of Ohio. Mr. Speaker, I would like to join with my colleague, the gentleman from Texas (Mr. DeLay), today as we memorialize the loss of Officer Chestnut and Detective Gibson on behalf of the whole House, and I speak on behalf of the Democratic side as well.

I rise this morning, Mr. Speaker, to commemorate my sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., that is celebrating its annual convention in Atlanta, Georgia. I am proud to be a member of that sorority that hosts more than 200,000 members across this country and internationally, women who have graduated from colleges all over this world. We are not only a sorority in the sense that people talk about sororities, but we are a national service sorority, having been involved in many projects throughout this country to raise the level of consciousness of women and folk across the country.

So I just want to celebrate the President of our organization, Gwendelynn Boyd, and all of our other national members, and the immediate past president, Marsha Fudge, now the mayor of the city of Warrensville Heights, Ohio.

TechAPhi, thanks for your remarks. My sorors pride ourselves on exuding class and distinction. I must say that the community of Atlanta welcomed us in Grand Style!

I am so happy to have met many of my CyberSorors, too!

Though I'm sad to say I didn't meet any GC sorors, I had a FABULOUS time in Atlanta! Everything went sooo smooth. From opening plenary, which had me in tears, to watching the soul stepping sorors set it out at the stepshow...I couldn't have asked for a better 1st National Convention! :D

Soror, you weren't the only one crying.....
Delta is soooo deep!

Ladies, I just had to drop in and give your National President, Dr. Boyd MUCH RESPECT. She brought the word at my church this past Sunday and it was timely, insightful, and ANNOINTED. You all are truly blessed to have executive leadership of that caliber.
