Favorite Gemstones
 

I started thinking about this today when I took my best friend's boyfriend (soon to be fiancee!!! :D ) ring shopping so he could get an idea of what she likes.

I know that traditionally engagement rings are diamonds, but my best friend also wants sapphires in hers. So that got me thinking, what is your favorite gemstone and why?

I'll get this started...

My favorite gemstone is alexandrite because it is such a chameleon. I love how it ranges from deep purple to pink to blue-green depending on what light it is in. The only hard thing about alexandrite is that it is so impossible to find natural alexandrite. There is plenty of stuff that is lab created around, and that is relatively inexpensive. But, the real stuff only comes from Russia and Africa and costs a small fortune.

I love the emerald! I mainly love it because it's my birthstone but I also think it's a gorgeous gem. Goes really well with my skin tone and eyes (they're emerald green!!!). Not only that...it also happens to be one of my sorority's colors and our gemstone.

Right now I have an emerald ring my grandparents gave me for my 16th birthday. I'd like to get a necklace and earrings to go along with it. :)

I would have to say emerald and aquamarine (my birthstone)

I love aquamarine (yes it is my birth stone) but I also like peals, and diamonds, each has a special meaning to me

Well, my favorite is ruby (my birthstone) and blue topaz :)
Thankfully, Dustin's TKE pin has rubies in it, so it was a perfect match for me!! lol :D

I love iolite... it changes colors as you turn it. It's fabulous! I also like garnets...

but diamonds are a girls best friend!

I like opals a lot. I think they're pretty cool.

My birthstone is peridot. (My birthday is August 11th! :)) I like it, too. Kind of a light green.

Amethyst is nice too.
