Initiation Number...

Im just curious about everones initiation number on this board...

I was the 499th sister initiated into the Gamma Gamma chapter!

Well we haven't really started numbering ourselves, but it's really easy to keep track of right now. So I am #14. My lil is #34. Exactly 20 people later... Isn't that cute?! :D

Okay...so my chapter has had so major problems determining everyone's number. See, the sisters that were in the sorority right before I was initiated MESSED a lot of things up for the future. Not only did they suck our bank account dry, but they never informed ANYONE of their "sister number." So, my question is to anyone that can help....is there any way to determine what your number is? I have thought of contacting Central Office, but I don't know who I would speak with. Also, I have thought of looking back through all the the Scribe's records, but that really wouldn't get me too far. If anyone has any suggestions, please post here, or email me at Jadey28@yahoo.com. I really appreciate any help on this matter! Have a great week

LITP,
Jadey

hey beth,
I know its easy to figure out but it's been a hard week and my brain is gone. What number am I? And what number is Stephanie? Maybe that is something we can see about adding in to initiation day stuff. Make it the new Iota Gamma tradition,
Carolyn

I think I'm 196. not positive tho. We never really tell the girls the numbers, but since I was Archon I had to keep up with the numbering.

I did notice tho that when CO mails out the Sphinx your member number is on it...so they must have records of it too.

Carolyn, you'd be #24. Stepanie is #28. Here, it'd be easier if I just put the list on here... Since a lot of the IG's will be wondering...

1. Ana*
2. Janet
3. Alma*
4. Sulma
5. Amapola
6. Yesenia
7. Marie*
8. Grace*
9. Norma*
10. Annel*
11. Esmeralda*
12. Gladys*
13. Luzmaria
14. Beth
15. Minerva
16. Amen*
17. Saemina
18. Paula*
19. Lisa*
20. Cynthia
21. Evelyn*
22. Ana*
23. Dinna*
24. Carolyn
25. Alelia

26. Rosio*

27. JoJo
28. Stephanie

29. Liz

30. Yvonne
31. Tracey
32. Randi
33. Adriana
34. Iris
35. Irma
36. Maria

37. Lourdes

(* denotes the sisters who went alumnae)

Oh, man, I thought Irma was #34... :( So she's not exactly 20 people after me... All well...

I didn't know that it said the member number on the Sphinx though... I guess I'll have to check it out when it comes in the mail. Is it the National Number, or the Chapter Number? (I would assume the National Number... But we all know what assume means... That's why I'm asking...)

I didn't even know they kept track. I don't think we keep track. Or at least if we did, we don't anymore. I wouldn't have any idea what number I would be. We were recolonized in 92 (or 93). So do we count from there or do we count from our chapter founding which is 1978? Damn I don't think we even have records of those girls before the recolonization. BTW I have seen that a lot of the Iota Gamma chapter girls (and maybe a few others) have PSLAM on their signatures. Is that the same as LITP? Like is it a Phi Sig thing or just a chapter thing. I was just curious if its a secret of whatever its kewl but if it is a Phi Sig thing I'd love to know (you can PM me)

Actually, I believe that our chapter does keep track, and it would be simple enough to figure out anyway, you would just have to count down the list in order of initiates. As for wether or not we have records from girls girls before the recolonization, I am not sure if the Scribe would have those or not. Either way, I would assume that Central Office would have all of that information.

phisigsigchic 07-22-2002 12:30 PM

But do we count from 1978 on or from when we were re colonized? thats got me stumped. hmmm I wonder what number I would be. I guess we would need all the orders of every NM class dating back to whenever. Oh well, something for the future scribe to think about ;) (actually possibly a historian activity).

AngelPhiSig 07-22-2002 11:53 PM

Okay, as much as I know from co...

Everyone has a unique initation #, therefore if a chapter was recolonized, it keeps counting from where it left off with co.

The number on the Sphinx starts with your chapters number, and then your individual initation number. like say its 006843 or something, like 006 is your chapters number and 843 is yours, but dont quote me, this is just my understanding.

Id check with co, they would have it... you will have to wait though cos we all know how slow replies are! :)

I was just wondering if anyone else still uses initiation numbers....I've never heard of it till now.

A side note, I still have never received any copies of the Sphinx and it's almost been a year since I've been initiated!! What do I do?

Hey Geneva,

Regarding the Sphinx have Crystal contact the membership manager and see if she can get copies of the last one for you. They're only coming out about twice a year right now.

As for initiation numbers I seem to remember being told in the last year or so that is something that really isn't kept track of and is kind of looked down on by CO. I did check a couple copies of my Sphinx and there is nothing on there at all to indicate what another GCr posted about chapter and member number.

Also, just in case Iota Gamma sisters were to look at the list that was posted here in 2002 the numbering would be off anyways as we had 4 founding sisters disafilliate that aren't listed. One of them being the first girl initiated. Then there were two others that initiated with Rosio that disaffiliated also. So the numbers posted would be off.

I think all we really need to know and remember is our actual initiation date in that fantastic sisterhood known as Phi Sigma Sigma. That is one of the most important things to me.

We were told we weren't supposed to keep track of our numbers... from I what I can tell I'm 400 or something like that... but yeah we were told that keeping track of numbers and classes (like alpha psi class is) treading on hazing. :(

CaliPhiSig03 10-21-2004 05:37 PM

Thanks for the info. I can see how it treads on hazing if someone decides to "pull their badge number" or whatever it's called, I've heard it done before. I still think it would be cool just to know what it is for your own sake, but I agree with Carolyn, it's your initiation date that matters! It's been 11 months to the day for me!

PhiSigStrawbery 10-24-2004 10:52 AM

We have an initiation today (10 girls). I get to be the marshall since I am bursar. I'm excited about that. YAY! We don't do numbers, but I really wish we did! I'd like to know what I am...
