Personally, I think it's good to know where these type of folks think they can spread their influence. It gives us the knowledge to, if we wish, fight back.

Librasoul22, you do have a point. In my PM to Honeykiss1974 I suggested just listing the events and the cities, without correlating them and without stating the dates. That way, we know where the events are happening, and we know what they are, but we don't run the risk of someone seeing the post and thinking "There's a rally and cross burning coming up! Pile the kids in the pickup, let's go!" Knowing about the events is fine; driving people to them is not. We don't need to be doing the KKK's advertising for them. |
Chances are that if someone shared the beliefs of those organizations listed, they probably already know about the event.
Also, I think it would be more of "Hey honey, did you buy the tickets to the League of the South regional conference?". As I stated earlier, not all of those events are rallies. Some are professional conferenceswhere ita attendees could be people that we all work with everyday. And the usually don't drive a pick-up ;) Additionally, there a lot of non-confrontational ways to "protest". For example, in an Alabama town, the KKK planned to have a march in the city's downtown area. When they arrived, every downtown business had closed for the day. No one was there but the KKK and the police. BTW, this information comes from a very informative website called www.tolerance.org . They track ALL hate groups (regardless of race, sex, class, etc.) |

It doesnt really suprise me that there are so many in Indiana, but why Goshen? Anyways, I think the thread was a good idea because many people do not realize how close prejucdist can hit to home. I myself am anything but prejudice, and by knowing of these "hate Rallies" you ,might be able to do something to stop them, but I agree with the dates thing. Why would you put dates on there if you didnt want someone to go to it?!?!

I AM A 27 YEAR OLD AFRICAN AMERICAN FEMALE...... Once again, these rallies will not cease to happen by not posting the dates. If you already have these "tendancies" and choose to go that's on them. Additionally, i decided to post the dates as an FYI for those of us that will be traveling. The last thing I would want to do is to make plan to go to Denver at the same time the Aryan Nation is holding their convention. :eek: |
I have not heard of some of these groups, but I know enough to stay away from the skinhead and Aryan Nation groups. Both are racist and violent. If any of you ever have a chance to attend a KKK rally I urge you to go and listen to them, Honeykiss this is probably not an option for you. You cannot imagine the sheer stupidity of these people. They have somehow managed to rewrite American history that we learned in 5th grade to support their views. It is so ludicrous it is funny. On another note. The NAAWP is not a racist organization, though many of the membership is. They have many of the same goals as the NAACP only geared toward white people. Like being proud of European heritage. If it is okay to promote non-violent activities that advance the opportunities of a race, then it must be okay for each and every race, provided that one does not hinder opportunities for other races as part of the advancement process. It is a fine line.
