Uhh, I get the analogy and at times I'm not the most PC of people, but that analogy probably isn't the best one to use. And the fighting does need to stop, but people are always going to find something to fight over. Plus, no offense we already have a few post asking everyone to stop :)

I can not believe that any human being would use this analogy. It is one of the most insensitive things I've ever seen or heard!

I take MUCH offense in that quote, knowing I was wheelchair-bound for 10 years, even into my freshman year of college (due to Juvinile Arthritis, I'm not mentally challenged, as you would probably think)... Besides that, I do believe a lot of the "fighting" needs to stop, but a lot of the "fighting" is just a difference in opinion, and this is a place for people to come together and voice their opinions and to unite together in a same bond. Believe me, it could be a LOT worse on here (and I've heard from a friend of mine it HAS been worse on here as far as fighting.)

And please, for the sake of not starting up another fight, refrain from using such irrespectable analogies.

Now you know better than to say something like that on GC.

As a copy editor, I read the stories, correct misspellings, change datelines, insert local references, that sort of thing.
I also write headlines.
So, on Tuesday night, when the story about the fire at the Trenton Psychiatric Hospital was submitted, it was up to me to write a headline.
In three words.
In the tabloid newspaper business, it's called a hammer head.
I should have hit myself with one.
Because, after I kicked a few things around in my mind, I decided on the headline that appeared in the paper.
I wrote it.
No one else.
Just me.
And it in no way reflects the opinions or philosophy of this newspaper or its management.

I understand your point but I really don't think this was the best analogy. But I agree with you fighting with people you really don't know and will probably never see is knida silly. I feel like there has been a lot of drama on GC lately. And even this request to stop fighting has started an argument. I think some of us like the drama and some don't. It is something that is just going to happen on the GC but we shouldn't fuel the fire either. So if you want to piss someone off pm them to do it unstead of posting it all over the board. But what do I know! Just remember happy thoughts! :D :D :D :D :D
