Newly Pinned and need some help!
 

Hello everyone!! Okay, last saturday (July 6th) my Teke boyfriend kinda surprised me..yes..he pinned me! (You can all jump for joy now) Well, due to his chapter bylaws the pinning was used to mark a pre-engagement (mostly because at this time, he can't really afford a ring). Well, I thought that once a girl was pinned she could be able to wear anything of TKE. But, he found out that I could only wear either his letters (w/pin worn w/it also) or whatever he bought me. And ontop of that, since all the guys are home for the summer and I can't find anything out about TKE pinning over the net, I was wondering about more of the regulations regarding to pinning. Trust me, I've searched -everywhere-, and I really do not want a National spotting me w/something that I thought I could wear that I really couldn't. Yes, this is my own kind of damage control for the fraternity :) I love those guys too much to get 'em into trouble. Also to add to the confusion, I'm a GDI, so, he was even wondering if there's anything concerning to that. So, if anyone who would have information about this, please share! His TKE sweater is kinda hot to wear in 100+ weather! Thanks!

Congratulations! There is not a whole lot "out there" since Little Sisters were abolished, but there is some jewelry, but I think it is the TKE Sweetheart pin only these days.

You may NOT wear anything that has the TKE Crest. You may wear his shirts/jerseys that has TKE on it as long as it does NOT have the TKE Crest.

Well, I'm glad you said something about the crest, I forgot all about it! Okay, just one more question, how about hats/visors/etc when it says 'Tau Kappa Epsilon' instead of the normal 'TKE'? Is that still acceptable? Also, I was told that I have to have his pin on me when I do wear his letters, since I really do not want to lose his pin, can I maybe wear something with his scroll number instead? As you can tell, I'm taking this seriously and do not want to offend any other Teke's or the organization itself, hehe :) Well, thanks again!

PS- What's with the TKE Sweetheart?

TKE Sweetheart....as a woman very involved with TKE. I would only wear the sweetheart pin (hoping that's what he gave you and not his own badge....some men don't understand that concept). You can look at TKE.org at their jewelry sponsor to see what I'm referring to.

I would just be respectful as you may to your own letters (assuming you're Greek). Party shirts are ok, but I don' t feel that straight letters are always acceptable. Just as if Eric were wearing my Tri Sigma sweatshirt, not that acceptable (unless I were freezing and he was being a gentlemen and I wore it), I would only wear something that he gives you. Don't be shy, email headquarters...they'll tell you what they think.

Hate to tell ya, but, I'm not Greek. Wish I was, but I'm not. Pledged once, had a bad experience, therefore, more than likely won't pledge again. I'm better as a GDI :) But I will take your advice on e-mailing IHQ, thank ya! :)
