One more ? about snap bids!!!!
 

Ok, I get what a snap bid is and all... but I have another question about it. Can you get a snap bid from a chapter that did not invite you back in the first place? Or did you have to be invited back to them? I really want to know soon because if it's not possible, then i don't want to bother going through the rest of rush tonight... because I didn't get invited back to any that I wanted and I have a huge test tomorrow that I could be studying for instead of going to a pref party that I'm not interested in. I just want to know if I'll be doing it for nothing because this test is pretty important and I don't want to be wasting my time if there's no possibility of me getting a snap bid from a chapter that didn't invite me back!

Any chapter that does not fill quota during formal recruitment OR is not a campus total can snap bid any woman that does not get a bid during formal bid matching.

You will have to speak with your Rho Chi or the campus Greek Advisor to see if any chapter would be below total after formal recruitment is over. It could be that even if a chapter doesn't take quota, they would be over campus total and ineligible to take additional members.

For example - if campus total is 60 and quota is 25. If a chapter has 35 members and they reach quota, they are at campus total and cannot snap bid or COB any new members. If a chapter has 35 members and only gets 15 new members during recruitment, they can snap bid or COB new members until they reach total of 60.

Say quota is 25, campus total is 60. A chapter has 40 girls and they get 20 thru formal rush. Even though they are at total, can't they snap bid 5 more? I always thought quota was quota was quota - i.e., even if you are only 1 girl under total you can still take quota.

Quota is quota and a group that is at total can continue pledging in the first week (or thru a time period determined by Panhel) to reach quota, but after that they are cut off. I probably should have explained it better. It is rare that a chapter that is at campus total would not take quota - large numbers historically attract large numbers.

In the second example I gave, I meant that not only can this chapter pledge up to quota, they can continue getting members until they reach campus total.
