Here it is- Just a note, we more than doubled in the next year after this!!! :)
Okay, I know this is a hard thing to admit, but my chapter is having a problem with recruitment. There are eight sororities on my campus and all but two of us made quota in the fall. I know why our chapter didn't and I am changing things (I'm rush chairman). I need help, though. I want a really good preference ceremony. I haven't been able to find anything with meaning that doesn't do something like the other chapters on my campus. I want something unique and heartfelt. Any ideas would be appreciated. My chapter has been doing informal rush and we have gained 12 new women which is wonderful! I like informal recruitment because you get to know people better before extending them a bid and you also know that they chose you over everyone else (even the chapters making quota aren't at total). Anyways, please post a few things you liked best about preferences. Maybe it was someone elses, or maybe it was yours. I just really want some wonderful ideas. Thanks! |

I would have to be a Chi Omega as well as many brothers here have said. I am a Sigma Chi at UofLouisville, Ky and they are the most active, most spirited group of girls there are on our campus. Delta Zeta would be a very close second though. And incidently they are also each others nemeses’. Cory Greenwell |

It takes a little while to get to know all the girls in your sorority. And, yes, it can be very hard at first. One of the easiest ways to get to know all the girls is to get involved in the chapter. Run for an office or play intramural sports for your sorority. Go to all the socials and date functions. You probably won't end up being "best friends" with every girl in the sorority. But, if you give it time, you'll probably meet a few girls who'll you'll make lasting friendships with! The best of luck and zeta love! |
January 2001 (i think this is my first!)
I've seen some hazing going around at my school before. Well, at least they call it hazing. I got to know a few of those pledges and I know that they hated some of the stuff, but they would never have done the activities if they thought they were demeaning or dangerous. They mostly did the stuff on their own. My organization has many rules against hazing, but many are really dumb. The defintion of hazing has gotten outa hand. Even making the girls get signatures is considered hazing. I wish I woulda had to do that stuff because I woulda gotten to know more Greeks on campus. So what exactly is hazing? I'm not too sure if this was my first. How are you guys figuring that out and when? |

i found this site on a whim, and when i was in need of some serious advice...thats how i got hooked. anyway, here is my first:
3-13-2001 Second Thoughts... I just transferred to a new school this semester and decided to rush. I ended up getting bids from the top two fraternities I wanted them from, Kappa Alpha Order, and Phi Kappa Psi. Picking between the two was one of the hardest decisions I had to make while at a new school where I knew a total of zero people, and in a new city. I ended up picking KA. It has been four weeks since rush, and for the past weeks I have been having second thoughts. It started out every time I would see a Phi Psi on campus- I would feel guilty every time they would say "hi Josh," or ask how I was doing. Then I started getting "what ifs..." I would wonder what they were doing, how they were, what their pledge class is like. it was not until last week that I really started to regret not joining Phi Psi. I am home on spring break now, and taking this week away from school to figure out what I want, and what would be best for me. *Here is where I need your help: Is it normal to have second thoughts about the fraternity you join? Should I quit KA for Phi Psi? What should I do... I really need some advice from other Greeks who do not know me or my school!! Email me, or reply to my post! |

On one of your posts, click on "profile" at the bottom of your post. Once you get there, in the top right hand corner, click on "Search for all posts by this user." Then click on the double arrows which will take you to the last page. The post at the very bottom of this list will be your "first post." This is the way I did it. I do not know if there is another way, but there ya go. |
