Your stuff

Hey Big Brothers and Sisters- I was wondering that when you get into a fraternity/sorority what kind of things you recieve that represent your house? I know there are badges and necklaces with your greek letters- is there anything else?

You receive your new member pin and then you purchase everything else.

Most Orgs. are underfinanced as we try to have housing cheaper than on or off campus!

It is not what you get free but what you get as a member from a better grade average, participating in many different functions and the feeling of be a member of a family.

If you are looking fro freebies, then look some where else!

Being a member of a Greek Organizations is hard work but with your Brothers or Sisters.

I am A LXA for life!
We just had the 5 th Annual Pierce Stock, 1 of the Alums who does a yearly thing and had 100 people there!

This is what the BRO/SIS hood is all about. Not being BMOC for 4-5 years.

New member pins, t-shirts, bags with our letters on it, etc.

Technically the only things my chapter gives newbies(ie chapter pays for them) are new member pin, house letter sweatshirt, badge, (there's also a magazine subscription, but I"m sticking to "stuff) any other t shirts, mugs, binders, lavalier, mascots are given by big sisters and they pay for them...

Things I've recieved:

Lifelong friendships
Brotherhood with thousands of brothers accross the country
Leadership experience unparallelled in any other undergrad activity
A real sense of belonging on my campus -- not just taking classes
Professional contacts that will help me a great deal when I'm out of school

Of course EVERYTHING comes with a price! Hard work, dedication and love of your organization are what you pay (yeah, there's a little green stuff involved with those pesky dues also)...

ktsnake- I think overall I want all the stuff you got!

Its not about the shirts and badges and jewelry you get when you join, its the really special stuff that make it a real experience that will remembered forever.

P.S. Sorry for the mushy-gooshy but its what being in a sorority/fraternity is all about.
