What a shame! That was one of my favorite movies when I was younger!

I think its one of those movies that you just cant make a sequel for... or a prequel in this instance. :(

Why not just do a Dirty Dancing 2 direct sequel? I think the new idea sounds dumb, but it may end up being really good. Dirty Dancing is one of my fave movies, and I duno if I could see it torn up like that. I don't see a point to doing a sequel "based" on the original.

I think they are going to screw it up! :( But I'll be optimistic until I actually see the movie! I've got my fingers crossed.

"Nobody puts Baby in a corner." or a prequel. :p

I totally agree, granted for what it's worth, she really is prettier post nose job..but she doesn't look like herself anymore..it totally changed her

Yeah, I agree! What was the name of that short-lived sitcom she was in (as herself)? I remember her making light of her "make over" in an episode.

I think she looks much, much better post-rhinoplasty. Plastic surgery is a great thing :)

PiKA2001 06-30-2002 03:29 PM

I dont get it. What is with chicks and dirty dancing?

The show was called "It's Like, You Know." (damn do I need a life) She does look prettier, but no one recognized her and it ruined her career - I think Phyllis Diller went through some of the same things after her first plastic surgery.

As far as this sequel/prequel/whatever it is....put it in a corner. :p

People need to learn how to stop while they're ahead.

Romance, Drama and Musical/Performing Arts
Havana: November, 1958. Eighteen-year-old Katey Miller brings an innate curiosity--and a smattering of Spanish--to her new life in Cuba’s lush capital, where her father has taken an executive posting at Chrysler. Schooled by her parents in the art of ballroom dancing, Katey is expected to join the smart set of American teenagers who are the Miller’s neighbors at the exclusive Oceana Hotel. But Katey finds herself drawn instead to the proud, purposeful Javier--a waiter who also happens to be brilliant dancer. Determined to learn the slinky, spectacular moves that Javier seems to know in his bones, Katey persuades him to partner with her in a prestigious national dance competition at a grand local nightclub, The Palace. Meeting secretly in an out-of-the-way Havana nightclub, Katey and Javier practice their steps--their bodies aligning in a sensual harmony that mirrors the growing passion between them. As the night of the contest finally arrives, Katey and Javier are ! ready to take their place as a couple on the dance floor--unaware that the country club, and the streets of Havana itself, are about to erupt in revolutionary violence.

I was looking at the cast of the Dirty Dancing Prequel in the IMDB website. I notice that Patrick Swayze will reprise his role as Johnny Castle. What I don't get is that he was in his mid 30s when he did the original Dirty Dancing. He is now in his early 50s, his character should be around his late 20s in 1958. Are the going to make him up so he could look years younger? I just don't get it at all!

the site says that Swayze will make a cameo appearance.

i saw the trailer yesterday and it looked pretty good actually. I think the fact that it has Jonathan Jackson (aka the original Lucky for GH fans) will be a draw for the movie.
