Brother/Sisterhood retreats?
We like to do brotherhood retreats.. Have a rule that we do them 2:1 over social events. Today a lot of us are going skydiving (I'm working so I can cover the shift of a brother that I work with:mad: ) but I was wondering what were some great events that other people have done or heard about?

For one of our sisterhood retreats, we went white water rafting. It was a lot of fun, especially since it was the first time for many of us. The only downside to it was that it was cold and pretty windy out, which made it hard to row against. But other than that, I would definitely recommend going white water rafting for a brotherhood/sisterhood retreat.

Our chapter went tubing down a river at Ginnie's Springs. It was pure comedy the whole day...the place where you rent tubes is far away from actual drop-off points so we had to open all the windows in my car and hold the tubes as we drove through the woods. We got lost. There were water mocassins and we almost died of fright but saved each other when we got too near the sides. We ate beef jerky and chatted with the beer-drinking people we floated by. We even had our own little boat for cold drinks.
It's a great time to get some sun and talk with your brothers or sisters without having to worry about anything. If you have a river nearby I'd suggest this. |
It wasn't an official event, but a bunch of us who were stuck in Tucson for summer school drove up to Phoenix and went tubing on the Salt River (yes Arizona has rivers!). It was so fun, even if it was over cast and I lost my shorts! I would definately reccomend this sort of activity, but don't take of your shorts and have them sitting on the edge of your tube.....
